SummerlinCopeland Mr. and Mrs. Harry Harness, Knox, announce the engagement of their daughter, Jennifer Leigh Summerlin, to Mikel Denis Copeland, son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Copeland, Wakarusa. Ms. Summerlin graduated from Oregon-Davis High School, Hamlet, and Ancilla College, Donaldson. She is employed by the Indiana State Police, Motor Carrier Div.,,Bremen Post Her fiance graduated from NorthWood High School and Lincoln Tec., Indianapolis, and is employed at Pcnske Truck Leasing, Elkhart. They arc planning a summer wedding.
Seniors invited for activities, hot lunches
The following schedule of meals and activites for persons over age 60 has been announced by REAL Services, sponsors of the program. The Nappanee site, located at the Church of the Brethren, Mack Drive, is open Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Activities at the site include table games and puzzles, a Tuesday Bible study, and other special activities as announced. Please call the site one day in advance, 773-2228, to make reservations for the meals. There is no set charge - each person is asked to pay just what he feels he can afford. .MENUS . Kids can dial Bible stories Child Evangelism Ministries of Elkhart and LaGrange Counties invites children to use its Call-A-Story program, featuring Bible stories. Boys and girls may dial 773-7666 in Nappanee, to hear a story, with changes coming at regular intervals. There is no charge for calls.
Church hosts Charles Baldwin Sunday morning, January S, during the 10a.m. worship service at the Turkey Creek Church of the Brethren, Charles Baldwin Jr. will be sharing about the Jungle Aviation and Radio Service (JAARS) in which he is presently engaged. Any persons interested in this overseas mission work are welcome and encouraged to hear his informative presentation.

Police 10g... DWI ARREST December 25, the Nappanee Police Department received a call of an accident at the intersection of High, and Madison Street Sgt. Michael Anglin, and Cpl. Tom Rouch responded to the call. Upon arrival they were advised that George H. Hughart, age 28,653 S. Hastings Street, Nappanee, was the driver of one of the vehicles involved. While officers were talking to him they could detect a strong odor associated with an alcoholic beverage on his person. Hughart was then asked to take a field soberity test which he failed, and a breathalyzer test, which he refused. Mr. Hughart was arrested for driving while intoxicated, and incarcerated in the Elkhart County Jail on a SI,OOO bond. He is scheduled to appear in Nappanee City Court, January 8.

All senior members of the Nappance community are invited to become active in the programs of Nappanee’s Elder Haus, a senior center, located at 258 E. Market St. The center is open Monday through Friday for a wide variety of regular activities and special programs. If you have questions, you may call the center at 773-2424. A newsletter is mailed monthly. Ask to have your name placed on the mailing list Crafts, games and of course, fellowship are offered on Mondays; euchre and bridge on Tuesdays beginning at Ipm; cards and games on Thursday afternoons and crafts, quilting and visiting all day on Friday. Monday, January 6, visitors are asked to bring a sack lunch. Wednesdays are reserved for special activities. Wednesday, January 1, the Elder Haus will be closed to celebrate the New Year’s first day. The following Wednesday, January 8, will be a special luncheon day with soup, crackers, salad and coffee, served at 12p.m., for 50 cents, with a special “social hour” later in the day. Thursday, January 9, the Elder Haus will be hosting a Health Screening Clinic, featuring blood sugar testing. Vistors hoping to take advantage of this opportunity are asked to call the day before to make arrangements. Echure will resume at lp.m.. A column of happenings at the LuAnn Nursing Home
December is always an interesting month for the residents and staff at the home. There are many letters and greetings to the residents. They started the month with the annual Christmas party given by the ladies groups of the Methodist Church, who bring in lots of codries and ice cream. During the month many food baskets of fruit and other goodies were given for many of the residents. There were various programs by school classes and churches. Also groups coming in singing Christmas carols and visiting. The residents along with the staff do enjoy being remembered and would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank the various groups and individuals who have given of their time and talent during the past year to bring some cheer to the shut-

Obltuarles Mabel Mast SepL 3, 1918-Dec. 25, 1991 Mrs. Mabel Mast, 73, 655 S. Williams St., Nappanee, died Wednesday, December 25, at home, following a two-month illness. Bom September 3, 1918, in Marshall County, die was the daughter of David O. and Amanda (Stutzman) Burkholder. A lifetime area resident, she married John Mast, March 31,1968, in Nappanee. She was a charter member of the Maple Lawn Amish Mennonitc Church, and a housewife. Surviving with Mr. Mast are five daughters: Mrs. Daniel (Carolyn) Bontrager, LaGrange; Mrs. Dan (Barbara) Yoder and Mrs. John (Ruth) Yoder, both of Smarts Draft, Virginia; Mrs. Paul (Irma) Miller, Martinsburg, Ohio, and Mrs. Delbert
ins at Lu Ann. No one can appreciate these added bits of cheer until it becomes necessary to be confined, not being able to go places when they are inclined. Again, a big “thank you” to each and everyone who gave of their time during 1991, and best wishes for 1992. We hesitate to mention names as we could miss many. Birthdays to remember in January are Laura Fredericks and Orvil Teeter, January 3; Edith Lantz and Charles Feit, January 5; Donnabelle Hunsberger, January 11; Harvey Frederick, who will be celebrating his 102 birthday, Januaiy 16; Carl Kaufman and Richard Banner, January 22; and Goldie Weaver, Januaiy 31. The Lu Ann Nursing Home residents hope to have a schedule for Sunday Church Services, which will be published at a later date.

Paul Miller and Wade Burkholder officiated at Saturday, December 28 services, at Maple Lawn, with burial at Berea Cemetery. Arrangements were by the Thompson & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee.
