Camp Fire has announced the offering of a series of day camps, as follows. » Session I will be a “Sport Camp.” This will include a fun-filled week of sporting activities, including golf, baseball, volleyball, basketball and swimming. The camp will be held in Nappanee, June 3-7, from 9a.m.-4p.m. Session II will be “Nature’s Window,” with all activities following this theme, including hiking, crafts, sport activities. This camp w ill be held at the Cottonwood Shelter at Oxbow Park, Elkhart, June 10-14, 9a.m.-4p.m. Transportation will be provided from Nappanee. “Field Trip Day Camp” will be Session 111, providing a variety of activities including field trips every day, including those to county parks, Woodlawn Nature Center, an Amish farm, museum, swimming, fishing, and Franke Park Zoo in Ft. Wayne. The camp will be based at the Camp Fire Cabin, Goshen, and transportation will be provided from Nappanee. Session IV will be “Last Chance Day Camp.” This provides one last chance for camp before school starts. A variety of activities will include crafts, hiking, swimming, fishing, games and sports. If your babysitter is going on vacation this week, the session will also offer extended care from 6:30a.m.-5:30p.m. This camp will lake place at the Goshen Camp Fire Cabin. There will also be a “Mini Venture” offered, Saturday, July 13. This will include a trip to the Circus City Festival in Peru. Work to improve ethics education at Goshen College will get a boost from a SIO,OOO Lilly Endowment Inc. Grant “Ethics and the Educated Person” is the theme of the threeyear project, conducted by the Poynter Center at Indiana University, Bloomington. Money will go toward creating a teaching-learning unit for use in many disciplines, according to project director Anne Hershberger. The unit will be available for all classes, but geared toward first-year student colloquium and senior seminar at first, said Hershberger, an associate professor of nursing. Students should be able to identify and analyze ethical issues, then come up with a plan to implement

Funds will subsidize the work of Hershberger and a four-member advisory group. Hershberger wrote the grant application with John Eby, Academic Dean; James Logan, Yoder Hall Resident Director and Black Student Union Faculty Advisor; and John D. Roth, Assistant Professor of History and Religion and Director of Mennonitc Historical Library. In 1990, Lilly Endowment Inc. was the fourth largest charitable foundation in the United States, with $92.5 million in contributions. Based in Indianapolis, the private philanthropic foundation was created in 1937 by J.K. Lilly Sr. and sons J.K. Jr. and Eli, operators of Eli Lilly and Company, to support religion, education and community development. Ways of teaching ethics has been the topic of meetings between Goshen College faculty members and colleagues from six other schools at Indiana University, Bloomington; DePauw University, Grccncastle; and Anderson University, Anderson. The group is now in its second year. They have a one week-long summer workshop and two followup meetings. There have also been on-campus sessions on the subject.
