Council Cont. from Pg. 1 attended the opening of a new teller machine at Lake City Bank, welcomed conference participants at the Brethren In Christ Church, met with the Board of Public Works and Safety, and the Main and Market Street Committee, and joined officials at Central School who were talking about new names for the school. Callander stated that the July 4 Committee will meet soon to begin plans for this year’s celebration in Nappanee. It is hoped that the event will be especially meaningful, as the community gathers to welcome home those who have served in Operation Desert Storm. The next meeting of the council will take place Monday, April 15, 7p.m., in the council room

Magic School Bus Week offers new ideas The Wa-Nee elementary schools recently took part in Magic School Bus Week, a special part of Reading Awareness Week. Students were guided to the classrooms of their peers to learn about new and interesting concepts, like the solar system, the importance of recycling and parts of the body. On Friday, March 15, Ronald McDonald visited the schools to help kick off the activities. (AN photos by Rebecca Babcock)
Harrison concert April 15 Harrison Elementary School will present its annual spring concert at 7p.m. Monday, April 15, in the school gym. Students plan to “sing of love and brotherhood, and of people doing what they should do to help their fehow man be free, and fill this land with harmony,” as their music focuses on this theme expressed in Artie Kaplan’s and Norman Simon’s “Harmony.” A 16th century Latin canon, “Dona Nobis Pacem,” will be performed, as well as songs from Czechoslovakia, Ireland, Africa and America. The students arc under the direction of Amy Berger, assisted by Candi Hcnkler at the piano. The public is encouraged to attend. rTC\
