this antiquated practice concerning pension assets. The IRTA recommends that all voters cast a vote for the amendment which will exempt pension assets from this constitutional prohibition concerning stocks. Voters are asked to vote “yes” on this amendment and give all of Indiana’s public employees, including retired teachers, the opportunity to achieve the maximum return on their pension investments. Crime Stoppers This week’s Crime of the Week comes from the files of the South Bend Police Department. Since August of this year, police believe more than 28 home burglaries have been committed by the same person(s). The areas affected have been in the River Park and the southeast side neighborhoods. One of these burglaries occurred on September 2, at 1131 East Victoria Street During the night, while the family was asleep upstairs, the culprit crawled through a dining room window. As he walked through the rooms downstairs he took a ladies purse containing credit cards, money and keys to the family car. Apparently, when the culprit left the house, he went next door and burglarized the neighbor’s home. A month later, police believe the same culprit returned to 1131 East Victoria Street and used the keys that were stolen during the burglary to steal the victims’ 1988 Oldsmobile. If you know who committed these break-ins and call Crime Stoppers this week you could receive a $ 1,000 reward upon arrest or indictment In Indiana and Michigan, you can call Crime Stoppers toll free at 1-800-342-STOP.
