Western honeymoon
Kathy Renee Myers, daughter of Kenneth P. and Karen K. Myers, Elkhart, and Mark A. Yoder, son of Keith A. Yoder and Virginia C. Yoder, Mishawaka, exchanged wedding vows on June 10, in an evening ceremony performed by the Rev. Dennis D. Leinbach at the Wakarusa Missionary Church. Approximately 400 guests attended the double ring ceremony which featured music by Carol Dyck, organist, and by Steve and Donna Clough and Carmen D’Arcy, vocalists. The bride chose a floor length satin gown with sabrina neckline, puffed ballroom sleeves and pearled and sequined schiffli lace on a basque-waist bodice. A cameoadorned bow topped the cathedral train. She also wore her mother’s headdress and veil. Attending the bride were Karla Myers, her sister, as maid of honor, and Theresa Bauer, matron of honor. Tonya Lienhart, Rene Stump and Linda Schrock were bridesmaids. Elizabeth Taber served as flower girl. Attendants wore full length dusty rose satin gowns. Brian Emmons attended his friend as best man. Groomsmen were Kevin Yoder, brother of the groom; Kent Myers, the bride’s brother; Chris Himscl and Todd Bechtold.

AnglemyerBeer Mr. and Mrs. Keith D. Anglemycr, Goshen, announce the engagement of their daughter, Marla R. Anglemyer, to Kirk A. Beer, son of Carol Cyrkler, Chelmsford, Massachusetts, and Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Beer, 1053 Park wood Dr., Nappanee. Miss Anglemycr is a 1985 graduate of North Wood High School, and is employed at Fabwel, Inc., Elkhart. Her fiance, a 1986 North Wood graduate, is employed at Family Fare, Nappanee. They are planning an October 14 wedding, at the First Baptist Church, Elkhart.

Annual chicken barbecue set by hospital auxiliary
The auxiliary of Community Hospital of Bremen has announced plans for the annual chicken barbecue, Thursday, August 17, at Sunnyside Park, Bremen. The chicken is grilled by Nelson’s Golden Glow Port-A-Pit of Wakarusa, with serving from 4-Bp.m. Home-made pies will also be available, by the piece or the whole pic. Mrs. James Pomeroy is working

Kevin Hucni and Rex Stump were ushers. A reception followed the ceremony, in the church fellowship hall, with Jim and Wanda Hartman serving as host and hostess. Assisting were Mary Anglemycr, Libby Fervida, Kathy Kenny, Beth Weaver, Dawn Cripc and Cindy Yoder. Guests were registered by Dana Harrington, Brooke Harrington and Tamara Lienhart. The bride is a 1985 North Wood High School graduate and a 1988 graduate of Bethel College, where she earned an associate of arts in early childhood education. She also served as a Campus Life volunteer. She is employed at LaPetitc in Elkhart as a teacher. Her husband, a 1985 graduate of Penn High School, graduated in 1989 from Indiana State University with a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering. He is a four-year Army ROTC Scholarship winner and participant and active duty selectee, presently serving as a lieutenant with the United States Army. Following a honeymoon in Tcmpc, Arizona and the Grand Canyon National Park, they will make their permanent home at 11805 Penn Rd., Mishawaka, IN. 46545.

CaseWilliams Mr. and Mrs. Frank H. Case, Jr., Huntsville, Alabama, announce the engagement of their daughter, Mary Elizabeth Case, to Jeff Albert Williams, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bobby J. Williams, Nappanee. Miss Case is a 1978 graduate of Butler High School, and graduated in 1983 from the University of Alabama in Huntsville, with a BSB A degree in management. She is employed by Intergraph Corp., as a programmer. Mr. Williams graduated from North Wood High School in 1979, and from Indiana University in 1984, with a BS in computer science. He is also employed by Intergraph, as a software consultant. They will be married September 2, at the St. Paul United Methodist Church, Huntsville.

New year begins for local VFW Auxiliary
The Nappanee Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6638 met Wednesday evening, July 5, for the first meeting of their new year. Carolyn Weber, president, presided, with nine members present. The meeting, which began at 7:30p.m., opened according to ritual, with minutes of the previous meeting read and approved. A petition of membership for Dorothy Fairchild was read and voted on, and the treasurer’s report was shared. Bills were read and presented to trustees for approval. Communications were read, including General Orders #l, the department president’s letter and a thank you note to the auxiliary from Alice Dumph, new state auxiliary president. The president explained to the committee chairpersons the way in which report forms are to be handled this year, and announced the July 21-22 Dutch Street Days in Nappanee. The auxiliary will sell hot dogs for 50 cents and kraut dogs for 60 cents. Saturday, July 22, will be bingo, with Juanita Young and Bernice Hollar serving as kitchen workers. Post, Auxiliary and Fathers Auxiliary members and their families. The president announced that the Past Presidents’ organization of the Department has raised dues, with several local members paying their dues. The price of renting the kitchen was discussed, and it was decided that the charge will be Sls, with a $5 rebate if the kitchen is left clean. The meeting was closed, to reopen August 2, at 7:30p.m. Members are reminded that dues for the 1989-90 year are being accepted now, by the treasurer, Alice Dumph. She requests that all members be “early birds,” and get those dues in right away. Club notes... TOPS 425 Nappanee met Monday morning at the First Church of God. A weight loss of 9.24 pounds was recorded from the 18 members weighing in. Helen Newcomer was the week’s best loser. The June weight report was read. The best loser was Dorothy Anglemyer. The runner-up lied between Mary Koser and Deborah Yoder. Achievement Day Awards were presented to: (one charm) Dorothy Anglemycr, Virginia Berger, Marilyn Burkholder, Gladys Detwiler, Dorotha Drudge, Deborah Yoder; (two charms) Velma Berger, Gladys Yoder and (three charms) Merlie Sechrist. The June contest winners were Helen Newcomer for TOPS and Norma Hershberger for KOPS. Mary Koser read the poem “Pack Away Your Troubles”. Ruth Manges read a card with a poem, “Don’t Quit”. Thelma Conrad featured Thelma Conrad, a former resident of Nappanee, who currently resides at Manor 111 Greencroft, Goshen, is featured in the 1989 Spring edition of the “Greencroft Courier,” published by Greencroft, Inc., Goshen. The feature, written by Gladdie Burkhart, is informative, talking about the fact that Thelma is “a Hoosier, bom and bread. She is a descendant of a pioneer Conrad who migrated all the way from Michigan City to the Nappanee area, purchased land from the United States Government, erected a small log house and began to farm.” In the article, Thelma tells about her moves, employment, church activities, etc., as well as a dream-come-true trip to the Holy Lands in 1974. Currently, she enjoys crocheting baby booties and listening to gospel music, and reminiscing. Persons who are interested in reading the entire article may get a copy from the Advance-News office. Connie Elaine Pletcher, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Pletcher, 28281 CRSO, Nappanee, became tire bride of Philip William Miller, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Miller, White Pigeon, Michigan, June 17, inaceremony performed by the groom’s father at North wood Chapel, Nappanee, in the presence of 180 guests. The bride wore a white satin gown featuring a cathedral length train and lace, pearl and sequin accents. She carried a cascade of white freesias, peach roses, light blue statice and baby’s breath. Bridal attendants were Tamie Pletcher, maid of honor, and Karen Trautmann and Nancy Pletcher, sisters of the bride, as bridesmaids. Attendants wore identical tea-length Chokey visits from Arizona Darin Chokey, Mesa, Arizona, visited with his family and friends over the July 4 holiday, accompanied by his fiance, Maria Jensa, also of Mesa. His parents, Bob and Doris Chikey, hosted 67 persons at a July 4 birthday celebration for their son, who is employed as an abused children counsellor. Also honored at the celebration were Bob Chokey’s mother, Florence Chokey, Wakarusa, who was celebrating her s6th birthday.

A reception followed the ceremony, at the church fellowship hall, with Mr. and Mrs. John Pletcher serving as host and hostess. The bride graduated in 1986 from Elkhart Baptist High School, and worked at Hook’s, Nappanee. Her husband attended Constantine High School, and is self-employed as a farmer in White Pigeon. Following a honeymoon in Northern Michigan, they are making their home in White Pigeon.
