Girls add two The Nappanee girts’ sixth grade basketball club won their third straight ballgame against a very big and physical team from Syracuse. Nappanee was behind 18-12 at halftime, only to come out In the second half and play very aggressive defense, holding the Syracuse team to only four pointsin the second half, and scoring 15 second half points themselves. Five foot eight inch Rachel Rogers dominated the rebounding in the second half, and also scored six points. Leading scorers for Nappanee were: Nicki Nettrour, 10 points; Heather Smith, 7 points The following day the team traveled to Milford, and faced that team for the second time. Nappanee took the victory, 22-14, their fourth win without a defeat. All twelve players saw plenty of action. The leading scorers for the game were: Nicki Nettrour six points; Rachel Rogers, six points; Heather Smith, three points; Robin Pletcher, three points; Shelley Kindig, two points; and Andrea Om and Therisa Fjgpigan each added one. The girls will play next in a fourway tourney with Syracuse, Milford, and North Webster at a date to be announced at a later date.
Another victory North Wood’s Junior varsity Panthers continued their winning ways by topping Jim town on Friday, at the Panther Pit. Coach Gene Zercher talks with his team during a timeout session, and, in the top photo, Andy Stump goes up for his two points In the contest. The Panthers made It three in a raw with the win over the Jimmies. Rob Prenkert and Matt Karnes led the scoring attack with 10 points each. North Wood hosts Rochester this Friday.
