Doctor welcomed “I made the decision in fifth grade to be a veterinarian,” says the newest doctor at the Nappanee Veterinary Hospital, Nan Boss. She is graduated in May from the University of Illinois School of Veterinary Medicine and Joined the staff in October. Another special trip is being planned for the Elder Haus group! This time, the group will travel to the Bowen Center in Warsaw. Reservations are required, and the bus leaves Elder Haus at 9:15 a.m., on Thursday, January 9. Lunch will be at Jon Wongs. There are still art classes being held every Friday at 10 a.m., with crafts following in the later afternoon. Come out and try your talent! Beginning January 9, the Elder Haus will offer a new exercise program for those who do not want to do vigorous exercise. These special “chair” exercises are especially designed for the senior citizen, and

A few of the residents were picked up by relatives for Christmas dinner. The rest had a delicious dinner here, and a few entertained guests. The menu selected of steak, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, hot roll, jello salad, and Bob Andy pie. Everything was delicious. One day before Christmas, a group from school came here and sang for us. Thanks, kids! The Salvation Army came one day and distributed gifts to everyone. These were very much appreciated. We had many groups who came carolling. The Christmas songs are so beautiful and the season for them seems so short. We really enjoyed all the beautiful singing. Thanks to
Surprise celebration for Howard Bergers
Mr. and Mrs. M. Howard Berger, R 2, Nappanee, were honored at a surprise open house, Sunday afternoon, January 5, in the Northwood Circle community room, for their 45th wedding anniversary. M. Howard and E. Bemiece Fisher were married on Christmas Day, 1940, by her father, the Rev. a ■ Club notes... The new year started out with a “crunch” for the Wa-Nee Toastmasters-the crunch of frozen snow, that is! Larry Smith was toastmaster, introducing the speakers of the morning, Tuesday, at Roeder’s Bakery. Bob Callander was jester, bringing the group theology in the form of Notre Dame sports. Rick Jenkins served as the topic leader, encouraging the group to be receptive to sharing humorous moments from the past year’s news and TV shows. Those responding were Dick Sheets, Bob Rose, Bob Callander, Sally Ingram and Ellie Ogle. Dick Sheets presented a speech, giving an overview of the club during the past year, with observations and suggestions about the coming

Seniors invited for activities, hot lunches
The following schedule of meals and activities is announced by REAL Services, sponsors of the program. Nappanee’s site, located at Church of the Brethren, Mack Drive, is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Activities at the site include table games and puzzles, a Tuesday Bible study, and other activities as announced. The December Bible study is being led by Pastor Robin Laßue, of the First Mennonite Church, Nappanee. Persons are asked to call the site one day in advance, to make reservations for the meals, (773-2228). There is no set charge-each person is asked to pay just what he feels he can afford.
