Roy O. Miller Funeral services for Roy 0. Miller, 75, 301 E. Centennial St., Nappanee, were Friday, December 27, at the Olive Mennonite Church. The Rev. Phil Helmuth officiated Burial was at Olive West Cemetery Arrangements were made by the Lienhart Funeral Home, Wakarusa. Mr. Miller died Tuesday afternoon, December 24, at home. Surviving with his wife, Jemima Miller, are two daughters; five sons and two sisters. Memorials may be made to the Elkhart Community Hospice, Inc., or to Olive Mennonite Church. Mary B. Gould July 28,1806 -Dec. 29,1965 Mary B. Gould, 87,215 S. Third St., Elkhart, formerly of Nappanee, died December 29, at her home. She was born July 28, 1898, in Steuben County. As Mary B. Robinett, she married George W. Gould on June 29,1920, in Richmond. He died September 8,1950. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Olen (Ethel Mae) Anglin, Nappanee; five sons: Everett, Mishawaka; Joseph, Elkhart; Robert, Edwardsburg; Paul, Granger, and Glen, Oxford, Michigan; 15 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Services were held at the First Baptist Church, Elkhart, with burial at Rice Cemetery. Mrs. Gould was a member of the First Baptist Church, and served as the head deaconess for many years. She was active in the Women’s Missionary Society. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, Elkhart. Lovina G. Hochstetler
Mar. 9,1903-Dec. 31,1985 Lovina G. Hochstetler, 82, of R.R. 1, Bremen, died Tuesday, December 31, at the home of her son, Willis Hochstetler. She had been ill for a short period of time She was born March 9, 1903, in Mylo, North Dakota. She was the daughter of Gideon Hochstetler and Susanna Hochstetler. On November 20, 1927, she married Daniel H. Hochstetler. He preceded her in death on October 29,1968. Survivors include four sons: Willis, Nappanee; Monroe, Bellefontaine, Ohio; Leroy, Bremen, and Gerald, Aylmer, Ontario, Canada; three daughters: Mrs. Alvin E. (Anna Mae) Burkholder, Nappanee; Mrs. Melvin L. (Esther) Hochstetler, Allensville, Kentucky; Mrs. Raymond (Linda) Slabaugh, Nappanee; two sons, Harley and David Lee preceded her in death. One brother, five step brothers, three sisters, and two step sisters preceded her in death. Other survivors include 72 grandchildren, and 54 great-grand-children. The funeral was held Friday, January 3, at the Leroy Hochstetler residence. Bishop John Henry Hochstetler, assisted by Roman Kuhns and Oscar Burkholder officiated. Burial was at Weldy Cemetery. She was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
Lester Widmoyer Dec. 22,1918 - Dec. 31,1985 Lester Widmoyer, 67, 403 S. Main St., Nappanee, died Tuesday, December 31, at Elkhart General Hospital, where he was taken after a sudden illness. Mr. Widmoyer was born December 22, 1918, in Nappanee, and married Sarah Miller on December 18,1949, in Rochester. She survives, with a daughter, Mrs. John (Shirley) Hall, Bremen; four grandchildren; three greatgrandchildren and a brother, from South Bend. A sister and two brothers are deceased. The Rev. Duane King, pastor of the First Baptist Church, conducted services Friday afternoon, at the Mishler Funeral Home, Bremen. Burial was at Bremen Cemetery. Cemetery. Mr*. Walter Miller Thursday, Virginia Good visited her mother, Delores Gustln, who resides near the Indiana-Ohio line, and other relatives. Seward W. Harman, 78, of Atwood, died in his sleep on his birthday December 25 at his home, after failing in health for five years. He was born to William and Rosa (Stackhouse) Harman and had been a lifetime resident of Kosciusko County. He was a retired teacher, farmer and livestock buyer. Survivors include his wife, the former Evelyn Beebe; two daughters, Mrs. Chearyl Miller, Leesburg and Mrs. Ray (Judy) Miller, Nappanee; three sons, Richard, Leesburg; Theodore, Lexington, Massachusettes, and Leßoy, Vermontville, Michigan; 14 grandchildren; six great-granchildren; one sister, Eileen Sheets, Nappanee; and a brother, Russell Harman, Warsaw. Services were held Saturday at the Mt. Tabor Church of God, of which Mr. Harman was a member, with Pastor Leland Culp and Rev. Warren McCuen officiating. Burial was in the Stony Point Cenetery. Thrya Kelser Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Mast spent several days last week at Kalona, lowa, visiting Andrew’s sister and husband, Joe and Mattie Kaufman, and his step-mother, Barbara Mast, at Pleasant View Home. They also attended the funeral of Leva Mast, widow of Crist Mast, who passed away at Clarita, Oklahoma, with funeral and burial at Kalona. She was 89 years old. Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Mast called on the Richard Slabaugh Family, Sunday, to see the new baby, Keturah, born December 16. Others there were Roman Hershberger and family, Gilbert Schrock and family, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Chupp, Etna Green. Later in the afternoon, Andrews called on Mrs. Levi Detwiler, Mrs. Manas Miller and Rosie, and at the Jona Hochstetlers in the evening. Friday evening, the Clifford Schrocks, Boyd, Wisconsin, visited Mr. and Mrs. Homer Miller. Mr. and Mrs. Roger Keiser visited Mr. and Mrs. Ben Kaiser, Milford, New Year’s Eve. Rev. and Mrs. George Snyder and family visited Mrs. Pauline Snyder, Altoona, Pennsylvania, and other family and friends in Pennsylvania, over the holidays. Mr. and Mrs. Homer Miller were Sunday dinner guests of the Cleo Orendorfs. Mr. and Mrs. Dann Keiser, New Palestine, visited Mr. and Mrs. Dan Snider and Mr. and Mrs. Roger Keiser on New Year’s Day. Sunday evening, the Eugene Hershbergers, the Mark Hostetlers and the Homer Millers visited the Lester Masts and new son, Dallas. She was a member of the North Main Street Mennonite Church, Nappanee, and had cared for the elderly in their homes, in the Nappanee and Goshen areas. Surviving are three brothers: Walter Miller, Etna Green; Elmer Miller, Converse, and Allen Miller, LaGrange. Two brothers and two sisters preceded her in death. Friends may call at the Thompson & Yoder Funeral Home today (Wednesday) from 2-4p.m. and 69p.m., and for one hour before services, which will be held Thursday at 10a.m., at the North Main Street Mennonite Church. The Rev. John King will officiate. Burial will be at the Maple Grove Cemetery, Topeka. McQuinn memorials accepted... Roger Myers of the Millwood Chapel Church was the master of ceremonies and led the congregation singing at the community sing held the evening of January 1, at the Mt. Tabor Church. The sing was sponsored by the host church, Millwood Chapel, Fairview Amish-Mennonite, Maranatha Mennonite, Hepton Union and Camp Creek Churches. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Good hosted Mr. Good's College and Career Class of the Mt. Tabor Sunday School on New Year’s Eve. They had a jolly time playing dirty bingo (and eating). General Telephone linemen have been working on the Millwood Telephone Exchange, putting all customers on either a two-party or private line. Red Davis, who has been a lineman in this area for a number of years, has retired. The Mt. Tabor WCSC is to meet at the Fellowship Center Tuesday the 14th, at 9 o’clock for an all-day meeting. The program chairman will be Helen Moyer. A carry-in meal is to be served at the noon hour.
Union Center members to a carry-in dinner Sunday, at the church, following the worship service. The Phil Keiser family spent Sunday afternoon with the Roger Keisers. Gospel concert planned An evening of gospel music is being shared at the North Wood High School auditorium, Thursday, January 9, beginning at 7:00. The concert is free to the public. Featured groups will be The Florida Boys, whose recording “When He was on the Cross I was on His Mind”, has been on the gospel music charts for the past 11 months; and The Carpenters Tools, a popular local gospel group, from Wakarusa. Albums and tapes by the groups will be available, and a love offering will be received. Missionary Church hosts drama group The Genesians, a drama group from Bethel College in Mishawaka, will appear Sunday, January 12, at 7p.m., at the Nappanee Missionary Church. The Genesians are under the direction of Dr. Earl Reimer, a professor at Bethel. Dr. Reimer most recently wrote the play "Joseph”, and has had numerous plays published by nationally known play companies. Dave Engbrecht, pastor of the church, invites the public to attend this night of Christian drama. The church is located two miles north of Nappanee, on SR 19.
Film shown The film “And When They Shall Ask” will be shown at the North Main Street Mennonite Church, Sunday evening, January 12, at 6:00. The 90-minute documentary portrays the Mennonite experience in Russia. It lets the viewer see the past through the eyes of persons who experienced it. The film follows Mennonites through migration, prosperity and persecution. It features unique archival film footage and present-day footage from the Soviet Union. It is a film about the past, with a message of hope for tomorrow. Everyone is invited to share in this experience. A free-will offering will betaken.

A 1 and Mazey Laureys, of New Carlisle, are the first husband and wife to both bowl 300 games in sanctioned play. His perfect game was bowled in 1962 and hers the following year. Fourteen other couples have since duplicated the Laurey’s achievement.
