Enchanted Hills prepares for 1986 season
The staff at the Enchanted Hills Playhouse asks that you “hang in there” through the winter months, and look ahead with them to the summer’s schedule of productions offered at Enchanted Hills. The 1986 season will begin June 11-15, with the production of “The Rainmaker”. A young man pulls his wagon into the Curry farm at a time of paralyzing drought, and makes the crazy claim that he can bring rain. And rain does come, along with love. This romantic comedy is a “cloudburst of a hit”, and should be perfect for the entire family. The popular “Annie Get Your Gun” will be offered June 18-29. This bigger-than-life Broadway musical stars an unbelievable score by Irving Berlin, including "Doin’ What Comes Naturally”, “The Girl That I Marry’” “You Can’t Get a Man With Free trees offered The National Arbor Day Foundation is giving ten free trees to people who become Foundation members during January, 1986. The free trees are part of the Foundation’s effort to promote tree planting throughout America. A Colorado Blue Spruce, Red Maple. White Flowering Dogwood. Red Oak. European Mountainash, Black Walnut, Silver Maple, Norway Spruce. Greea Ash and Sugar Maple trees will be given to members joining during January. These trees were selected to provide a wide range of benefits: flowers, shade, berries, nuts, and beautiful fall foliage, according to the Foundation The six to twelve inch trees will be shipped postage paid with enclosed planting instructions at the right time for planting this spring. The Foundation makes its spring shipments between February 1 and May 31, depending on the local climate and this year’s weather The National Arbor Day Foundation, a non-profit organization, is working to improve the quality of life throughout the country by encouraging tree planting. The Foundation will give the ten free trees to members contributing $lO during January To become a member of the Foundation and to receive the free trees, a $lO membership contribution should be sent to TEN TREES, National Arbor Day Foundation,. 100 Arbor Avenue, Nebraska City, Nebraska, 68410, by January 31, 1986 Be a Junior Leader A leader attracts followers and has the ability to influence the thinking and actions of others. According to Diana K Moore, Extension Agent-Youth, the Elkhart County 4-H Junior Leader Project is helping more than 180 young adults annually to develop their leadership skills. The 4-H Junior Leader Project is open to 4-H members that are 14 years of age and over, and enrolled in at least one other 4-H project. A leader channels his actions to his followers and he soon learns that it is an honor, opportunity and a responsibility to be one Members who choose this project discover how to learn, live, and serve through leadership. Since there is no exhibit for the County Fair, 4-H’ers complete the project by participating in several clubs, county, and community service activities. also provided members with an opportunity to meet new friends through the County 4-H Junior Leader Gub. Junior Leaders from all over the county meet each month to discuss current 4-H activities and plan future meetings. Anyone between the ages of 14 and 19 who is interested in joining the 4-H Junior Leaders is encouraged to contact the Elkhart County Cooperative Extension Service located on the Fairgrounds, Goshen, or by calling 533-0554.
