Water plans for complex requested
> by Marie Dobeckl In the Monday, December 9 meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety, Mayor Robert Callander asked Carl Schuster of C*R Development, to draw up plans for storm, water, and sanitary sewer lines for their project on South Jackson Stteet. Consulting Engineer on the project, Larry R. Long, of Larry R. Long and Associates, Warsaw, was present at the meeting. He stated that they are preceding with plans, and that the preliminary plans are within the guidelines. Water Superintendent Jim Callander recommended to the board that the 10” main 1,200 feet back to the north, be into the project. is to be used for duplex dwellings. Up to 22 families will reside in the area. Clerk-Treasurer Kim Ingle opened the bid from McCormick Motors for the Street Department pick-up truck. The bid was for a one-ton Chevy K-30 series, four-wheel drive truck. The cost Was quoted as $20,617. With the allowance for the trade-in of $7,617, the cost total was $13,000. The board approved the bid. In unfinished business, the board approved an 80 percent grant not to exceed $11,400 and 20 percent direct loan from 1961 Community Development Block Grant funds not to exceed $2,248, for 1962 CDBG Project No. 12,557 W. Lincoln Street. Street Superintendent Bill Mishler announced that they have started work on the approach to the Alphabet building. other departments for their support and their continuing help. He stated that the SIOO,OOO grant for the Derksen farm land purchase and development has to receive final approval from the federal government before anything to be done. Wastewater Treatment Plant Superintendent Phil Hochstetler stated that the front-end loader was delivered last week. Included in the delivery was a weather cover for the vehicle, amounting to $225, that was not included in the cost. The city will pay for this in the future, when the invoice arrives. Hochstetler also stated that the rent on the storage building for the sludge vehicle was due. The building is on the Clarence Neff estate, and costs the city $lO a month. The city approved payment retroactive to August, and will pay on a monthly basis in the future year.
