Dawn Marlene Ressler and Bryan Eugene Sheets were married September 14 in the Union Center Church of the Brethren. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Carl Stump, grandfather of the groom, who was assisted by the Rev. George Snider. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dale Ressler, 24721 CR 52, Nappanee. TRI KAPPA > The Tri Kappa Province Ten Officer’s Training Workshop was held Saturday, September 28, at the Nappanee United Methodist Church. Chapter officers were present from Albion, Angola, Auburn, Columbia City, Elkhart, Garrett, Goshen, Kendallville, LaGrange, Nappanee and Warsaw. Chapters from these cities make up Province 10 of the 12 provinces in Indiana. Province 10 officer, Becky Lehman, Nappanee, led the workshop. Tri Kappa is a philanthropic sorority organized for the purpose of promoting charity, culture and education. Tri Kappa across the State of Indiana supports Riley Children's Hospital in Indianapolis. The latest project is to help the hospital add a teenage lounge for patients at the hospital. OES Nappanee Chapter No. 367, Order of the Eastern Star will meet Tuesday, October 8, at 7:30p.m., at the Nappanee Masonic Temple. The Past Matrons and Past Patrons of the Nappanee Chapter are to be honored guests, and Dave Widmoyer will be honored for having recently received the 33 degree of Free Masonry. His honor is the highest given to a Mason. The Rev. Widmoyer is also the Grand Secretary of the Indiana Royal Arch Masons, and has served as Patron of the Nappanee Chapter several times. Officers are asked to be in formal attire. Helen Truex is Worthy Matron, and Wavelene Yoder, Secretary. - HOME ECHOES The Nappanee Home Echoes Home Echoes will meet at the home of Georgia Marvel, Tuesday, October 8, at 1:30p.m. Lillie Osborne will give the devotions, and the lesson on “Cooking with Herbs and Spices” will be presented by Fern Johnson. Madlin Culp, president, and Wavelene Yoder, Elkhart County Vice-President attended the President's Council in Goshen on Monday, September 30, at 7p.m. All members are reminded to bring their items for the auction to this meeting. TOPS 425 Tops 425 met Monday morning, with the leader, Irene Lemler, in charge. A total of 31 members weighed in, recording a weight loss of 26 pounds for (he week. The best loser for the week was Lorraine Hochstetler. Secret pals were revealed. Members are asked to wear their vests to next Monday’s meeting. The Optimists meet each Thursday at 6:45a.m. (except the first Thursday of the month, when the meeting time is 6:30a.m.) at Wayside Restaurant. Visitors are welcome, and a membership drive is presently underway.

Mr ana Mrs. Larry Joe Gordon are making their home at 6258 Fir Road, Bremen, following their August 17 wedding at the Zion United Church of Christ, New Road, and a wedding trip to Southern Indiana. Kentucky and Tennessee. Mrs. Gordon is the former Nanette Sue Berger, daughter of Mr. and Mrs Harold Berger, Mishawaka, and Bertha Mikel, Nappanee. Her husband’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Gordon, Bremen. The Rev. Paul Thompson performed the ceremony, in the presence of 281 guests, with music provided by Janis Berger, Jim Snell and Mrs. George Hayden. The bride, given in marriage by her parents, chose a floor length gown designed and hand-sewn, featuring Chantilly lace and three tiers of veil-pearls, and a head piece featuring lillies of the valley and roses. She carried her grandfather’s Bible, covered with satin, lillies of the valley, white roses, carnations and baby’s breath. Laura Fout, Mishawaka, served as the bride’s maid of honor. She wore a gown of winter blue organza over taffeta, with bustled skirt. She carried a bouquet styled similar to that of the bride, with peacock feathers. The bridesmaid, Denise Gordon. Mishawaka, wore a similarly-styled gown and carried a matching bouquet, and flower girl, Sarah Berger, niece of the bride wore a matching bustled lace dress. The groom was attended by his brother, Mike Gordon, Plymouth, as best man. Robert Buies served as groomsman, and ushers were Eric Berger and Errol Berger, brothers of the bride’ and Jesse Berger, the bride’s cousin. The Faith Builders Class members of the Hepton Union Sunday School, and several guests, enjoyed a chicken barbecue and carry-in evening meal at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Young and family September 20. Terry Fike and Kara Hammond were united in marriage at the Mt. Tabor Church of God Saturday afternoon. Cal Good of Florida planned to spend Saturday and Sunday with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Good, and also visit his paternal grandmother who is seriously ill. Connie Harman is the new church secretary for the Mt. Tabor Church. She will be in the church office on Thursdays. She replaces Patty Neff who recently completed her training as a beautician. The Active Ladies Extension Homemakers Club members expect to meet with Marialyce Moore at 9:00 on the 10th of this month to make noodles. Each lady is to take a sack lunch. Florence Slabaugh plans to give the lesson, “Granny’s Methods, Grains and Pie Crust.” Wouldn’t you enjoy freshly popped corn these cool fall evenings?
