Library sponsors poster contest Celebrate with us! The Nappanee Public Library will be moving into the new library building soon. As part of the celebration of the opening of the new facility, the lirbary staff is sponsoring a poster contest for children and young adults. Entrants are asked to design a poster depicting how they would celebrate the library’s opening. Prizes will be awarded for grades 1-3, grades 4-5, grades 5-8, and grades 9-12. Stuffed animals, books or North Wood backpacks will be offered to first prize winners. Entry forms, complete contest rules and posterboard are available at the library. Leaf pickup by city... Due to the upcoming leaf pickup season, the last odd-sized trash pickup for Nappanee will be Friday, October 4. The pickups will then resume in the spring. Anyone living within three miles of Nappanee may have leaves collected by calling 773-2112 or 773-4322. Please provide good directions to your residence and the location of the leaves to be collected. Tickets 501d... Nappanee Noon Klwanians are offering their popular travelogue tickets, good for the four presentations in the current series: Canada, New England, Egypt i- and New Zealand. I According to police reports, the I accident occured at 1400 E. Market I St., just 500 ft. east of Miriam. Miller ■ stated he was making a left hand [turn into Pizza Hut, when the van I driven by Darwin G. Lampen, also lof Nappanee, hit him. Lampen I stated to police that he didn't see any I vehicle until he struck the Miller I vehicle. Miller stated that he didn’t I remember being in the turning lane I to turn. Miller was arrested for failing to I yield the right of way while making I the turn. Lampen did not have a chance to react to the car turning in front of him.

Lidy Brown, daughter of Claude and Janet Brown, 451 W. Lidy, a freshman at North Wood High School, Is congratulated by last queen, Betty Holderman. The queen was selected by s panel of Judges who read an essay she entered, along with other candidates, on what she expects to get out of high school.
