2-0 record Volleyball team loses opener

The eight grade volleyball team at Nappanee Middle School split last week, with a home-opener loss to Milford on Wednesday, and a win at Jimtown on Thursday. Milford spoiled the home opener, winning 15-11,12-15,11-15. Alicia Templeton had 12 serves, Lori Huffman, nine, and Jennifer Weidenhaft, eight. Lori Huffman and Angie Swanson had the most bumps, and Tammy Whitmer the most spikes. The Bulldogs travelled to Jimtown Thursday, and won in two games, 15-4,15-12. A third game was played for fun, with the Bulldogs winning, 15-10. Angie Swanson and Tami Bean were high servers, and Alicia Templeton and Debbie Pippenger had the most bumps. Jennifer Weidenhaft, Lori Huffman and Tami Bean each had a spike. Alicia Templeton had the most sets. The girls were scheduled to meet Concord, there, on Tuesday, and host Triton on Thursday, with game time set for 4:30p.m.

After one win and one loss in last week’s competition, the North Wood boys’ tennis team sports a 7-6 record, with the JV even at 6-6. In the week’s first match, against Wawasee, the score found the Panthers on top, 3-2. All three singles won their matches, to assure the victory, at Wawasee. Number one singles, Phet Inthivong, played a very consistent match, defeating Eric Sharp 6-7,64,

The top server was Susan Higginbotham with 15 points. Top bumpers were Lisa Hochstetler, Tina McDonald and Kelly Crilow, and Debbie Lehman was the leader in sets. The girls were scheduled to play at Concord on Tuesday, and will host Triton Thursday, at 4:3ot> m.

The JV score was also 60. The tennis sectional will be the highlight of this season, beginning Saturday, October 5, and continuing through Tuesday, October 8, at. Elkhart.
