Pep rally, powder puff...

North Wood High School will aponaor a Homecoming Pep Session, Thursday, October 3, at 7p.m., at Panther Field. Following the pep session, there will be a girts’ powder puff football game, beginning at 7:30p.m. The community is Invited and encouraged to participate th these special activities. North Wood will hoot Bremen’s Lions on Friday, October 4, for

the homecoming football game. The North Wood Homecoming Queen will be crowned at that time.

Girls wen Instructed In cheers, chants, jumps and yells. The Piather cheerleaders Instructed the group. The thhd grade will cheer during first quarter, the fourth grade during the third quarter, and the fifth grade during the final quarter. All of the girls who participated In the clinic will be wearing matching T-shirts tar the game. Couple receives honor Receiving this week’s “Good Citizen Award” from Tower Federal Savings and Loan are Mr. and Mrs. Harold (Helen) Geyer, 358 E. John St., Nappanee. Harold and Helen were nominated by a neighbor who admired his readiness to help when things need fixing and doing, and her always being there when there Is a need to talk to someone. For being this week’s “Good Citizens,” they will receive a gift certificate from JB’s Place, a floral gift from Your Flower Shop, and other gifts. Presenting the award for Tower Is Assistant Manager Tudy McMurray. Vaccines for elderly against influenza noted

October 9 will mark the beginning of the Elkhart County Health Department Flu Immunization Program. Clinics will be held In various parts of the county through October 25 for persons age 60 and above. The major goal of the program Is to help protect the elderly from Influenza by providing low cost vaccinations. This year, three strains of influenza are expected to be active: A-Phillipptaies, ACbile and B-USSR. Even though these are the same three strains predicted last year, flu shots must be renewed annually for protection. Last year over 1,900 elderly persons received flu shots through the public clinics In

Elkhart County and a similar or greater number is expected this year. A $4 donation per person is being suggested to help cover the cost of the program. Planning and coordination for this program Is being assisted by the Council on Aging, YWCA, REAL Services, The Window and others. Persons of any age with long term heart or lung or other long term health problems should consider receiving Influenza vaccine through their private physician. Thursday, October 10, flu shots will be given at the Nappanee United Methodist Church, 301 E. Market Bt., Nappanee from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Please use the parking lot entrance.
