unknown object and was knocked to the ground. Her assailant struggled with the victim and tried to rip her purse from her arm. The suspect failed in his attempt and ran north behind the Kroger store. The victim was treated at a local hospital where she received over 20 stitches to her facial wound. The suspect is a white male, 17 years old, 5-0, thin build, with brown curly hair. Handicapped need parking permits Effective Sept 1, Public Law 1360 empowers local law enforcement agencies to ticket and fine vehicles parked in spaces reserved for “handicapped" if they do not display an official handicapped parking permit. Persons eligible for these permits should contact the local office of the Indiana Rehabilitation ServicesDivision of Vocational Rehabilitation. EMS appreciation

Diabetic education classes offered The Diabetic Education Program of Goshen General Hospital offers a series of diabetic classes‘on Sept. 4,5 and 6 at 7 p.m. at the hospital. The purpose of the classes is to teach diabetics and their families about the disease and to instruct the diabetic in the necessary steps for control of the disease. The first class, scheduled for Tuesday, is entitled ‘‘What is diabetes and how to care for it.” It will be taught by Nancy Schooley, R.N., diabetic education coordinator. “Diet and Diabetes” is presented by Barb Fierce, hospital dietician, on Wednesday. The final class, on Thursday, is entitled ‘'How Diabetes Affects Your Body." All diabetics, their families and other interested people are invited to attend. Pre-registration and class fee is requested. Contact the Education Department of the hospital for additional information. 533-2141.

The jump kit is the first item off the ambulance and contains equipment used for treatment of patients.
