22nd Century Christmas may bring A green Santa with red hair

Qow will Christmas be celebrated in the 22nd Century? Seventh grade students at Nappanee Middle School tried their hand at forecasting future Christmas observances and here are some of their predictions. By Jennifer Andrews In the 22nd Century Santa will come in a space ship. He will bring computers for the children and moon shoes for the grown-up. The children will put their Christmas list in a computer. You will go to another planet for your Christmas tree. You will trim the tree with computer tape. All you have to do is put the tape in the computer and push the computer button and it will start up You will want to wear a space suit. If you want to have anew one you would tell the computer to make you another one. If one day it is cold, the computer will make you a warm one. If it is warm, the computer will make you a cold space suit. Instead of playing on the ground you will be playing in the air. You can go to bed at night and everything will be floating around If you wanted to ride in the car instead of walking you would end up flying to school Your shoes are going to be called moon shoes. By Tony Silvers At Christmas time people will ice fish with a robot that swims after the fish. You can also get an ice fishing box that is radio controlled. To beat it all -you will be able to get a wonderful wacky ice dipper. There will be automatic snowsavers and restorers for everything. The ice skating rinks will be portable And a green Santa with red hair will arrive in a four wheel drive truck 10 feet off the ground The Christmas tree will put itself up with lights and bulbs attached The video games will cost one dollar.

Reaganomics will be sky high. By Todd Casteel I think in the 22nd Century Christmas will be fun. It will be like all spaceships and real nice houses. We will be traveling to other planets every hour. At Christmastime there will be lights and to make cookies there will be machines with buttons. Just push one and you will have Christmas cookies. You will be using a lazer axe to trim the tree. You will use lots of neat stuff to put around. You might have moon rocks or moon dust and for a star just put a capsule on top through moon dust and you have a star. To do your Christmas shopping you have to go to another planet which will be very fun And now to tell you the good part Santa will be coming in a spaceship led by 14 white reindeer. By Kim Thomson Dear Friends, I am going on a voyage and I would like you to go with me to the 22nd Century. We will leave at 51:00 o’clock tomorrow, I will pick you up at 50:00 o’clock. Here We go! Hold on! And fasten your seat belts. 10-8-9-7-5-6-3-4-1-2-0--1 MOON BOOM! WO! Here we go BOOM! BOOM! Uh, I uh think we landed. Well let's get out. Holy moon beam look at it. Oh know, here they come, watch out, get down, get down. They must want to get us I think that it is Christmas time because that Electric tree. And the presents under it. And I bet I know what they are. Some of them are space helmets, space vests, computers, and robots. Most of the children have Space Anti-Gravity belts and suits. Some even have space mobiles, unless they are older than 15 then you have to fly on an Elevation belt. See on KORK the kids drive instead of the grown-ups But the grown-ups still work. Well I think we better go now and we

will come back next year to come and see KORK By Esther Mullet In the 22nd Century I think Christmas will be a little different than it is right now. Automobiles will be different. Santa Claus might dress up a little differently. He might have a green and white suit and still black boots. I think maybe we won’t have any Christmas presents or even a Santa Claus but we probably still will. Maybe Christmas will be a lot different. Different color lights. Like yellow or purple. Green and red might not be the color we’re going to have. Maybe we won’t have any Christmas shopping centers. We’ll probably have a different style of clothing. We’re going to be a lot older too. Some people think that Christmas might stay the same and that’s what I think too. By Matt Graff Cristmas story of Santa riding his hot rod spaseship giving out presents to little space cadets. All snug in ther wall bags dreaming of computers of all sugar red on blue. All the children waiting for the big day when they can open the toys under the pyramid tree. When you hear the astro bells you know he’s there. Down through the furnace pipe and out a little hole he comes. Cristmas day the big feast awaits. First they have the hotter yackbary suse. And after supper they all have racing down the electricl hill. Then when the grandparents come they all open presents of all kinds. A computer for dad, a ring for mom, a tape recorder for sis and I did not get anything for myself. By John Wyant Once there was a little boy named David he always liked space things. One night he had a dream about the 22nd century Christmas. He dreamed that the cars would fly around and people wore space suits. The night before Christmas he heard his dad leave for town. When he got to town there was a big store full of toys. His dad went inside while he was inside he saw Santa Claus. Later about an hour before 12 o'clock? he heard a noise. He thought it was was' his dad but when he opened the door there was a funny looking creature looking at him. The creature was starting to bite him but he ran away when his dad shot him with a laser gun but he hit the wall. After that was over the went to bed after about fifteen minutes he heard another noise he looked out the window he saw Santa Claus in a dune buggy He had a red sweat suit on with a red cowboy hat. The car was red and was quiet. The next day he told everybody about his dream After that they are turkey, potatos..... By Kelly Moore This is the 22nd century. 'Hoosier Hysteria' book published

After four years of research and writing, one of the Hoosier state’s most honored sportswriters has written the Indiana sports book - “Hooeier Hysteria I Indiana High School Basketball.” To celebrate its publication, the publisher of the book, Icarus Press of South Bend, sponsored a publication party at the Indianapolis Press Club attended by many of Hoosier Hysteria’s most famous athletes and coaches. Mayor William Hudnut declared the day “Bob Williams Day” in recognition of the book’s publication and of Williams’ outstanding contribution to sports reporting. Bob Williams, column, "Shootin’ the Stars,” is the only such thrice-weekly column in the state (very likely, the nation) devoted solely to high school sports. He has been writing that column for 25 years and has been following Indiana high school basketball for many years before that. Among his many honors are the following: - four times recipient of the Sportswriter of the Year Award. - Joe Boland Award from the Indiana Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association for “outstanding contribution to youth.” -a director of the Indiana Bakaetball Hall of Fame since its founding in 1962. - recipient of the Distinguished Service Award from the Indiana High School Athletic Directors Association. - member of the Indiana-Kentucky Basketball Game Committee. - recipient of the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association’s highest award for outstanding contribution to basket-

ball coverage in the state. - recipient of numerous other awards from high school coaches associations. The book is divided into four parts: perennially great teams, outstanding players, coaches of major note, and the Cinderella teams. And throughout the 350-page book are more than 220 photographs (many are rare and most have never been published before). Included also are game statistics and individual performance records. But the bulk of the book is the narrative - exhibiting the greatness and character of Indiana high school basketball; the wonderful, heartwarming stories of triumph and defeat; the thrills and excitement, the glory and nostalgia of the phenomenon of Hoosier Hysteria. Three printings of ‘‘Hoosier Hysteria!” have been ordered before the first book came off press. Already, the book is well on its way toward being the best-selling major sports book ever in the state. Books have gone on sale throughout the state ($9.95 for permacovered pa per bound and $14.95 for the clothbound edition).
