JV girls extend win streak

The girls JV basketball team extended its winning streak to 15 games with a pair of victories last week. The two wins, 38-28 over Concord and 55-11 over West Noble, raised its season record to a brilliant 16-2. The two losses occurred in the second and third games of the season to once beaten Bremen and to an undefeated Elkhart Memorial squad. Both the Concord and West Noble games were highlighted by excellent first halves. Against Concord a tenacious man to man defense held the Minutewomen to only five first half points while the Panthers poured through 21 of their own. The third quarter saw more of the same as the lead grew to 31-9 before a late-game letdown. Angie Blosser led North Wood in both scoring and rebounding with 10 and 12 respectively Shelly George chipped in nine points and Tammy Shepherd hauled down 12 rebounds. The JVs proved even more awesome Monday at West Noble. Playing perhaps their best ball of the year, the Panthers stunned their hosts by connecting on their first nine shots of the game to roll to a 19-2 first quarter lead. This time there was no let-up, however, as they continued to roll the entire game Eight players scored four or more points for the Panthers led by Blosser with 11 and Tammy Lechlitner with 10. The JVs also played an excellent floor game committing only 17 turnovers.
