Adult classes set at Goshen
Adult learners may choose* from a variety of Goshen College evening courses this winter, announced Shirley Showalter, director of continuing education. Courses meet from two to three hours one or two evenings per week from early January through early April. Communication Methods for the Deaf II meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning Jan. 6. , A beginning sign language course, Communication Methods for the Deaf I, will meet on Mondays and Wednesdays beginning Jan. 7. A social work course in Developmental Disabilities begins on Jan. 6 and meets once per week for the rest of the trimester. Six courses meet on Thursdays starting Jan. 8. Modern Religious Movements will focus on the rise of the Latter-Day Saints, Christian Science, Black Muslims, the Unification Church and other similar movements. Christian Classics will explore the relationship between ideas and literary art, in the works of consciously Christian writers such as Tolkien, Donne, Dostoevsky, Wiebe and others. students in Church Music will examine the vocal and instrumental music of various church traditions, especially the function of music in worship. The various forms of psychological abnormality and the settings in which they develop will form the subject matter for the course Abnormal Psychology. Business Law will provide a survey of. the legal principles of secured transactions, agency, partnerships, corporations and anti-trust. For students wanting to deepen their aesthetic sense, History of Art I will survey art from prehistoric times through the Middle Ages. Contemporary Women’s Issues, part of the Patterns For Living cooperative series sponsored by Goshen College and Oaklawn Community Mental Health Center, will also begin Jan. 8. Community Nutrition, Early Childhood Curriculum Studies and Biblical Studies: Bible and Sexuality will meet on Mondays beginning Jan. YMCA to hold youth registration Registration for the new session of youth classes at the Elkhart YMCA will beheld Jan. 5-10. The first three days of registration week are'for Y members while nonmembers may register Thursday through Saturday. For information about classes, schedules and fees, contact the Youth Desk at the YM-YWCA complex at 200 E. Jackson Blvd., Elkhart. The Youth Department is open from 9 a.m. until 7 p.ni. weekdays and from 8:30 a m. to 4 p m. on Saturdays.

12. Showalter said students in the above courses may choose one of three credit options. They may audit (no credit given) for $75. Registering for 4 c.e.u.s. costs S9O and obligates the student to a minimum of 80 percent attendance and some form of evaluation. College credit requires filling out an application form and costs $135 per credit hour. People over 60 years old are eligible
