Monday snow
Nappanee residents awoke Monday morning to find a blanket of wet snow over the city making streets and roads slick. The new snow was added to that which fell last week giving the Nappanee area a white Christmas. Children home from school for Christmas vacation found the new snow ideal for snowmen and snowball fights. (AN photo by Ron Reiser)
'Oklahoma' tickets now on sale
Tickets for the North Wood Thespian production of “Oklahoma” are now on sale. Production date is Feb. 6 and all seats are reserved so order tickets early by calling 862-4834. “Oklahoma's" cast marks another “first" as students, faculty and parents come together for the production of one of America’s favorite musicals. According to director Sherry Hoover, “The Adult response and cooperation have been super. Police log Two traffic accidents have occurred in Nappanee during the past week,, according to reports received from the Nappanee Police Department. No injuries were reported. The intersection of Nappanee and Randolph St. was the site of a December 24 mishap, which occurred at 12:01 p.m., and involved a truck driven by Robert V. Cook, Elkhart, and a car driven by Charles S. Sheets, Bourbon. Cook had stopped for a stop sign, and ‘ then entered the intersection, failing to see the Sheets vehicle approaching.’ < Cook stated that his vision was partially blocked by a parked vehicle The r Sheets car struck the truck in the side, causing estimated damages of 8900 to the truck, and 8600 to the auto. Two cars were involved in a December 28, 8:30 p.m. accident which occurred at the intersection of US6 and SR 19. Drivers of the vehicles involved were Margaret E. Sutheimer, 506 North Wood Apartments, Nappanee, and Steven D. Ingalls, Elkhart. Both vehicles were travelling south on SRI9, and were preparing to turn right onto US6. Inga'lls stated that he. thought the Suthemier auto was heading straight ahead, and started to pass on the right side to make the turn. As the Sutheimer car made the turn, it” struck the Ingalls auto. Damages were; estimated at 8450 to the Sutheimer car and 8100 to the Ingalls auto. Year can end with < fewer traffic deaths John T. Shettle, Superintendent of thg Indiana State Police announced today that traffic statistics indicate Indiana stands a chance of ending 1960 with leas than 120 Q traffic deaths. At present, the state’s death toll is 1,106, which is 120 less than on this datea year ago. If the present rate of traffic deaths: continue, Indiana will complete the" lowest year of traffic deaths since 1976" when the final toll was 1,135.
