NAPPANEE CHAPTER 37 Nappanee Chapter No. 367 will be hosts to the Matrons and Patrons of District 20 on Wednesday, October 31, at 7:30 p.m. at the Masonic Temple at 254 E. Market St. Mrs. Kathryn Meyers, District Deputy, will be a special guest of the chapter. Officers are to bring a dessert to share for refreshments following the meeting. It is to be a Halloween party and everyone is to dress in costume. EMBROIDERER’S GUILD "The Embroiderer’s Guild of America, Nappanee Chapter, will meet at the First National Bank social room, at 7:30 p.m., October 29. The lesson, on mounting and framing, will be presented by Ranita McMurtrey, of Weldy’s. VFW LADIES AUXILIARY The Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6638 met last Wednesday evening at the Post Home. There were 13 members present. Ruby Osborne, president, presided. The meeting was opened according to ritual. Pledge of allegiance was given and opening prayer by the chaplain, June Silvers. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. Bills were presented and handed to trustees for approval. Other communications were read. Reports of committees were given with most chairmen reporting they had sent their report to state. The president reminded the members of fall conference this coming week Oct. 27,28 and 29 at Indianapolis. There are 26 paid members. Only 89 more are needed to be 100 percent. Members are urged to stop in and pay

The following schedule of meals and activities for persons over age 60 has been announced by REAL Services, sponsors of the program The Nappanee site, which is open Monday through Friday, is located at the Nappanee Church of the Brethren. Institution and installation of Junior Girls unit was Tuesday. The treasurers report was given and' approved. The meeting was closed to reopen Nov. 7 at 8 p.m. TOPS At Monday morning’s TOPS meeting, 20 members weighed in. A motion was made and carried to donate $lO to TOPS research foundation in honor of Helen Newcomer. Doris Schrock brought a cassette about a young girl’s weight loss. GREEN THUMB The Wa-Nee Green Thumb Garden Club will meet October 29, across the street from Raymond’s Restaurant, for a trip to the Mclntosh Greenhouse. Members are asked to meet a 6:30 p.m. TRIKAPPA Tri Kappa Sorority held its October 9 meeting at the home of Mrs. Pam Stickley. Meeting was brought to order by president Amy Berger. Final salad bar preparations were discussed. It was announced that the second annual Santa's Breakfast will be held Dec. 8 at the Nappanee Middle School. Details are to be announced later The program for the evening was presented by Superintendent of Schools William Dorsey. It was a slide presentation on the expansion of the Wa-Nee Community Schools. Refreshments were served by cohostesses Peggy Tompos and Linda Dye.

Juanita Kay Slabaugh and Glen Allen Miller were married Sunday, Sept. 30 in a ceremony performed at the Prairie Street Mennonite Church in Elkhart with the Rev. Phillip Bedsworth officiating before 60 guests. The bride is the daughter of the late Jerry Slabaugh and Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Stricklin, 116 Dinehart Ave., Elkhart, and formerly of Nappanee. She attended North Wood High School. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur L. Miller, Rt. 2, Nappanee, are the parents of Mr. Miller. He attended North Wood High School and is employed at H&H in Bremen. Dolls needed by Goodwill Industries
Goodwill Industries of Michiana has announced that they are in need of dolls, to be dressed for the annual Dolly Derby This will be the 21st year for the project, which involves distribution of dolls by Goodwill, to girls who dress the dolls and return them for distribution

ceremony were Karla Hochstetler, maid of honor; Teresa Slabaugh, sister of the bride; Jim Wood as best man; Rex Miller as groomsman; and Loren and Galen Slabaugh as ushers. A reception was held at the church with Colleen Poitras, Karen Hochstetler, Kathryn Burkholder, and Debbie Evans assisting. The bride chose her mother’s white lace dress and carried a bouquet of blue daisies, yellow carnations and white baby breath. The church was decorated with yellow mums and white mums. The couple will live at 156' 2 W. Market St., Nappanee, Apt. 5.

Wedding vows were exchanged October 5, at the Turkey Creek Church of the Brethren, by Sue Ellen Weaver and Stephen L. Kennedy. Rev. Olden Mitchell performed the ceremony The bride is the daughter of Virginia Reed, 1054 E. Marion St., Nappanee, and the late Lamar Reed Her husband’s parents are Lillian Kennedy, Mishawaka, and the late Wallace Kennedy. Special music for the ceremony was provided by Mrs. Robert Strang.

The bride, who was attended by Mrs. Richard Dodson, matron honor, wore a rose beige gown trim bed in ivory lace, and carried a boUjuet of silk flowers in autumn colors. Phillip Kennedy served as his brother’s best man. Jennifer Weaver, daughter of the bride, served as a candleligiter. A buffet supper followed the ceremony at the home of the bride’s mother. Assisting hostesses were Mrs. William SimQn and Mrs Gary Reed, sister and sister-in-law of the bride. Mrs Kennedy is employed at Coppes, Nappanee. and her husband works at Tru-Green. They are making their home at 70911 Tecumseh Dr., Nappa nee.
