Candidate calling Republican Mayoral candidate Bob Callander is shown calling at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Martin, 132 S. Clark St., to give them a candidate brochure and to encourage them to vote. Callander states that he has already called at two-thirds of the residences in Nappanee and hopes to complete the other one-third lie lore Nov. K. Callander worked as a paper-boy in Nappanee fifty years ago and delivered papers to the Martin residence.

Ruff loses ballot place

Cora Ruff, a Republican candidate for the fourth district Nappanee City Council has received word that she has lost her place on the November 6th city election ballot. Through error at the county level, her name wilt not appear, according to the Elkhart County Republican Chairman The Nappanee Republican Committee was also advised of the above and was told that at this date there is no recourse. Cora indicated that she was disappointed. She was looking forward to winning the seat and serving the community. However, she urges all of those who were supporting her to vote for the balance of her Republican colleagues Judge Charles Davis, Jr.

current City Judge also was caught up in the same error but will not lose his position for the next four year term. Judge Davis will also be absent from the ballot, but can be appointed by Governor Bowen, for the next term. The appointment can be made since he is unopposed and by Indiana State law can be appointed by the Governor to fill a vacancy of the court bench. Leaves will be delivered During the fall leaf pickup, anyone wanting leaves delivered should call 773-1322 or 773-2112. Leaves will be delivered by truck loads within a threemile radius of Nappanee. Anyone wishing to haul their own leaves may pek up bagged leaves at the Nappanee Street Department garage, Wabash Avenue.
