Nappanee Police Officers Don Miller and Tom Rohr conduct a safety check on Tim Reidenbach’s bike during Saturday’s bicycle safety program conducted in the field behind McDonald’s Restaurant. The hikes were marked with reflector tape, provided by the Nappanee VFW as a part of their nation-wide bike safety program. McDonald’s and die VFW provided orange drink for participants in the program, and other local businesses also cooperated by providing hike safety items and promotion for the program. 0
Judge Walton to speak at Memorial Day service
Final plans are being made for the 16th annual Memorial Day Parade in NaDDanee. and for the service which will follow. The parade will begin Monday, May 29, at 10 a.m. sharp. The line-up will be on W., Lincoln St., starting at S. Main. The parade will head north on Main St. to Centennial St. and go east on Centennial to the Memorial Football Field, where a short service will follow. The speaker for the service will be the Honorable Judge E. Spense Walton, South Bend Superior Court Judge.

Bike safety
Judge Walton has long been active in civic endeavors, as well as VFW activities. He is a Past National VFW Judge Advocate, Past State VFW Commander, Past Third District Commander and Past Post Commander at Post 360, Mishawaka. He is currently serving as the State VFW Judge Advocate, and is serving on the National Rules and By-Laws Committee. All units which intend to participate in the parade should contact Marty Miller, Chairman, 773-3302.
