North Main Street Mennonite Church. The church recently voted to purchase the property and remove a house now on the site. Plans call for a gravel lot to hold one line of from 15 to 20 cars with entrance off Ind. 19. In the public hearing, adjacent property owners stated that as long as no attempt was made to create an alley at the rear of the property and if no drainage problem would result, no objections to the request would be raised. It was pointed out that no alley was authorized at the rear of the site, only a utility easement that would split rear lots facing Main Street. Church representatives gave assurances that proper drainage would be provided by removing topsoil before installing the gravel. There are no plans at present to blacktop the lot. The variance request and hearing was the only order of business at the meeting.

Awards given Awards presented at the Nappanee Chamber of Commerce dinner meeting last week went to past board members Phil Bonacorsi; Dr. Russel Bolyard; Russell Price; Allen McQuinn, past chairman of the retail committee, and Jim McQuinn, executive secretary of the chamber of seven years. Paul Dougherty was also recognized for his service as past president.
