attempts to draw up an exotic pet control ordinance. He stated that the proposed ordinance in Elkhart has run into legal flaws but that a copy of the measure will be made available to the council as soon as the problems are corrected. Other cities, he added, have requested examining Nappanee's proposed ordinance once it is formed. Final approval was given an ordinance annexing 13.75 acres in the North wood Addition to the city. Part of the land will be for single family housing with the remainder to go for multi-family housing. An ordinance appropriating $4,300 from revenue sharing funds for new parking meters passed second reading with no discussion despite considerable comment upon its introduction at the March 20 meeting. A public hearing on the appropriation is set prior to final passage at the April 17 meeting. Public comment is invited. Also passing second reading was an

ordinance to annex six acres of land east of CR 7 and north of Berlincourt Ditch for proposed multi-family housing. Final approval was given an ordinance appropriating $4,276 for airport operation. Street Superintendent Zent suggested elimination of the chain in the city parking lot at Lincoln and Elm separating the lot from the alley. He said that posts supporting the chains have been knocked loose and $253 worth of chain has been taken. He recommended replacing the chains with blocks. In March, the street department removed snow from alleys, filled and graded alleys, opened and repaired catch basins, patched streets and rodded 6, m feet of sewers. Salt and sand were mixed and the area around the garage was cleared of trash. Zent also reported that sweeping of city streets began Thursday. He also checked possibilities of purchasing a new catch basin machine with action expected later this summer.
