Volunteers to campaign Sunday for Heart Fund
will be set up at the St. Joe Valley Bank community room. The canvass drive will be held between 1 - 5 p.m. Volunteers are asked to come to the bank for neighborhood assignments, canisters and literature. Diseases of the heart and blood vessel system are the nation’s Number One Killer, taking a life toll of more than half of all Americans who die each year from all causes. The American Heart Association is literally fighting for over 950,000 lives a year and working to improve the quality of life for another 29 million who have been afflicted with cardiovascular diseases. Your “one hour of volunteer service” will make a difference.
Wakarusa students to present spring festival
The spring choral festival of Wakarusa Elementary School will be presented the afternoon of March 15 at 1:30 p.m. It is a performance that is free to the public and will be given in the gymnasium. t~ Each grade will be doing a variety of numbers and there will be many instrumental accompaniments. This Sunday, March 12, Heart campaign volunteers will canvass their neighborhoods distributing heartsaving information and collecting money in support of Heart Association research and program activities. These volunteers represent various service clubs throughout the community and individuals who have accepted the challenge of “giving one hour of their time” to fight a needless battle of death and disability from cardiovascular disease. Volunteers are still needed to assist with the community fund drive. If you are interested and want to give “one hour of your time” please contact Susan Conrad, 773-3045. FFA to hold slave auction The North Wood chapter of Future Farmers of America will hold a slave auction Monday, March 13 at 8 p.m. in the high school cafeteria. On sale will be the services of 54 FFA members available for eight hours labor anytime within a year. The auction will provide - an opportunity to get odd jobs done or for farmers to get help for his summer. Roger Hahn will be the auctioneer.
