Business Notes Holiday Rambler r announces Sweepstakes winners John and Norma Fuhrmann of Fremont, Michigan were the grand prize winners in Holiday Rambler Corporation’s Presidential Sweepstakes. The couple won a 32-foot Presidential 3000 travel trailer worth about $12,000. “We were thrilled,” Mr. Furhrmann commented. “When they called to tell us we had won, we thought it was a joke: We had forgotten all about the drawing. When I realized they were serious, I almost fainted. I had to have my wife take the phone.” "If the prize had been a trip abroad—or just about anything else—we wouldn’t have been so excited. But we’re like gypsies—we use our travel trailer 12 months of the year. We couldn’t have won anything more useful.” The Presidential Sweepstakes introduced Holiday Rambler’s new line of Creative Interiors. Creative Interiors allows the purchaser to choose floorplans, fabric designs and colors, kitchen cabinets, countertops, and wall coverings. The Fuhrmanns designed the interior of their new Presidential 3000. The 1976 Spring-summer Holiday Rambler dealer promotion ended on July 31. The drawing was held on September 15, 1976. The Fuhrmanns purchased their first travel in 1968. Mrs. Fuhrmann said she inspected the inside of over 100 models. Mr. Fuhrmann recalled inspecting the exterior, roof and undercarriage. “I must have crawled underneath at least a hundred units,’’ he said. “We had decided we couldn’t afford a Holiday Rambler. But after we had seen one, we were spoiled. We ended up buying a 27-foot 1968 Holiday Rambler.” In 1971, they purchased a 1969 31-foot Holiday Rambler trailer. The Fuhrmanns have been members of Holiday Rambler Recreational Vehicle Club since 1971. They estimate that they travel about 15,000 miles a year with their travel trailer, and they have attended rallys and camped in 20 states and Canada. “Our club number is 12426. If anybody recognizes our number on the road, we’d be happy to have them for coffee and show off our new trailer.” The Furhmanns enjoy entertaining and often have friends in for dinner while traveling. “We find the privacy and spaciousness of our Holiday Rambler perfect for our lifestyle,” Mrs. Fuhrmann said. The new travel trailer was presented to the Fuhrmanns by Richard E. Klingler, president and chairman of the board of Holiday Rambler, and Carl D. Pletcher, senior vice president of sales and marketing. The presentation was made on November 12 at the Holiday Ramlber Corporate offices in Wakarusa. “My husband said he’d believe we really won the trailer when it was actually hooked up to our car. Well, it’s hooked up now, and we just couldn't be happier.” UTC releases fall tax statement The United Telephone Company of Indiana pays one of the largest tax bills in the Nappanee area, according to Gene Evans, district manager for the firm. Evans said that United paid $169,010 for its fall installment of property taxes in this area. United’s Nappanee district’s payment is part of a $1,946,946 total ad valorem tax bill the firm paid to 48 counties for the year on a total assessed value of $35,065,060. These tax payments do not include other state and federal taxes that United pays.
