Letters News from Mexico

Dear Friends, This has certainly been a busy and interesting summer for us. However, the boys are back in school again. Brent is seventeen and a senior, and Terry is fourteen and a freshman. He attended two summer camps and kept up the lawn mowing jobs. Brent worked all summer in McAllen. He is a member of a singing group called SONRISE. They traveled all over Texas conducting services, and saw the Lord bless greatly. In one service five young people received the Baptism in the Holy Spirit. Brent is “sound man” in the group and loves it. We thank the Lord for his interest in spiritual things. Knipalme The brethren at Empalme celebrated their sixth anniversary in June. Bro. Candelario Guevara spoke each evening and was a great blessing to the people. Also, the Lord has opened the door for me to begin a weekly Bible study for the ladies, but some of the men come too. While the Bible study is in progress, Carlyle does visitation work. We covet your prayers for Empalme. We’ve been

believing God to do anew thing there. La Parada The work here is growing with new people coming. There was a large number of young people that came to heckle the brethren during the services, but now they are becoming interested. Praise the Lord! Also, Bro. Pablo has purchased a house and moved into the village in order to be closer to the work. And the brethren have partially completed the church building and are using it for services. Mama' Leon Carlyle has just returned from MaMa’ Leon. He found the brethren encouraged and glad to see him. Bro. Silvano has built a little house for the services until a later time when the brethren can build a church. Bro. Rito has purchased a motorcycle which makes it much easier for him to reach the village. Carlyle ministered each evening, teaching on living the Christian life. These people are so unlearned and so new in the Gospel that they have a hard time standing against the superstition, fear, and darkness about them. Pray much for them. Tampacan This is anew field of labor which the Lord has opened through Bro. Vicente, one of our Bible School students. He grew up in Tampacan, about 500 miles interior, and, since graduating, has returned to do pioneer work. On the first trip down, he and another brother met with strong opposition, but the Lord blessed anyways in the nightly services. Now, he and his family have moved down into the area. He hopes to have a baptismal services soon Pray much for him and his wife. She is not a believer and, of course, this hinders greatly. KWMI The King’s Way Missionary Institute has begun the fall term of classes. Otg; part in the Institute is the same as last year. Carlyle serves as Chaplin and is in charge of the practical Christian work assignments, I am teaching Conversational Spanish and Reading Clinic. So it looks as though the next year will be a full one again. Do keep praying for us and for the various needs we mentioned in this letter. We always appreciate your interest in the work.
