Vietnam war on condition that American prisoners be released, American missing be accounted for and US. troops be allowed to withdraw safely from Indochina. Brademas supported the resolution. Brademas recently introduced a bill providing for tax credits or refunds to retirees on limited, fixed incomes whose support is continually eroded by rising property taxes or rents. / •■f ' • ■/ Senator Vance Hartke (D) A bill providing compensation to citizens suffering injury and-or property loss as a result of crime was recently introduced in the Senate by Hartke. Senator Birch Bayh (D) Bayh recently introduced an amendment to the inheritance tax law to aid family farmers, who are liable to high estate taxes. Bayh’s bill would exempt up to $200,000 of farm valuation from estate taxes for farmers who have managed their own farms during their lives and who have willed it to relatives who plan to carry on this tradition. Bayh also recently introduced proposed constitutional amendments providing for direct pupular election of the president and for a lower qualifying age for the Senate and House of Representatives. Bayh’s election amendment abolishes the electoral college, leaving only a direct popular vote. New qualifying ages of 27 and 22 for the Senate and House respectively are also proposed in the other amendment. The current minimum ages are 30 and 25.
