Talk of the town ~, *• Barb Reiser

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season, and that all those rich holiday treats didn't put too much of a strain on your diet. It's just a bit late to talk about Christmas. 1972 and perhaps a bit early to begin to talk about Christmas 1973, but Gwen

Price has started what she thinks might become a nice local custom. On Christmas Eve, she placed Luminarias (a folded-down paper sack and a small amount of sand holding a lighted candle) all around the entrance to hei*home on West Walnut St. The effect was beautiful. Gwen didn’t know it.at the time, but the Church of the Brethren also used the Spanish custom to create a beautiful effect around the church drive for the Christmas Eve service. Luminarias are simple and inexpensive Christmas decoration—and wouldn’t the effect be nice? Tuck this idea away, but don’t forget about it, and we'll see what haoDens next Christmas Eve. Marine Sgt. Dale Stone, his wife, Yoshiko, and their two sons, Masami and Tadami, were recent three week guests of his mother, Mrs. Cloye Stohe. Dale and his family have since left for Hawaii, where he will be stationed for the enxt three years. He is a chief clefk with the First Marine Brigade and will work at the Kaneohe Bay Base. Dennis Smith, the gymnastic coach at North Wood High School, presented a program on this sport, relatively new to our community. Most of us have seen gymnasists on TV and the recent Olympics are no doubt fresh in our minds. Out of what in many respects was a sad spectable at Munich—little Olga was a marked contrast and 1 dare say gave $ great boost to the sport of the gymnastics!'. We had an intersting program with “Russell and the Collegians" last week. The students talked openly and frankly as did some of the Kiwanians. This could well be an annual affair. May we be humble in success, courageous in failure, grateful for blessings and thankful for God’s grace in every circumstance which may be our lot.
