Poem to The Young and the Exquisite Enamoured of Each other 1 — The mystery and the virginity of which Lasting sometimes Into death For which Impossible To blame them While breath Lasts in us We choose rather Joyfully to join In their adoration - Mrs. A. L. Hollowcll R. 1. Outstanding record To the Advance News: As 1971 draws to a close, I want to take this opportunity to congratulate all of the citizens of Elkhart County on the significant decrease in the number of traffic fatalities in their area. According to our records in the Indiana Department of Traffic Safety, there were 34 traffic fatalities in Elkhart County during the first 11 months of this' year. In 1970, there were 49 traffic deaths within that same period. This is a reduction of 15 deaths. . . 15 lives saved. Richard Shank, your state representative, the members of the Elkhart County Traffic Safety Commission and all residents of Elkhart County are to be commended. Such an improvement from one year to the next can only be the result of cooperation from everyone concerned. As you are no doubt aware. Dick Shank is an outstanding leader in the field of traffic safety in Indiana. I only wish that more counties in the state would see fitto start programs similar to the Elkhart County- Traffic Safety Commission. For it is my belief that., if a traffic safety program, is to he at all successful, it must be started on the local level. The progress made in Elkhart County is proof positive that traffic fatalities can be reduced through area-wide cooperation on a people-to-people basis. Because of your success, I hope to interest many other counties
