Missionary work To the Advance-New's: Christmas greetings, We are praising the Lord for the results of the last trip to the mountains. The young men from San Rafael were very interested in the Bible studies and a number have enrolled from the three villages. Carlyle and Bro. Rito did considerable visitation work leaving Bibles in many homes. However at Encarnacion so few can read that they were not able to leave many. At San Rafael one afternoon as they were doing visitation, they had the opportunity to witness to the village schoolteacher. She is a girl of about

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

nineteen but has absolutely no knowledge of the Word of God. She invited Bro. Rito and Carlyle in to explain what “this” was, referring to a tract they had given to her. She was very receptive and delighted to receive a Bible. That evening she came to the service and listened with an open heart/ Pray for her because in Mexico if the schoolteacher is won for the Lord, you have reached one of the village leaders. Praise the Lord for the four at MaMa Leon who were baptised. Water is very scarce in that area so they had to take the people over hill and dale until they finally came to a mudhole Hilled with frogs. Bro Rito and Carlyle had to hurry a-

head and chase off the frogs or else the two ladies would not have been baptised. They already have a fear of the water and water with frogs is just too much! That evening following the baptismal, two more accepted the Lord Jesus as Saviour. Thank the Lord! Also the attendance is growing with a very apparent interest. The group has been saving their offerings for benches and now have nearly enough to buy two benches. Last month we told you about the brethren at Empalme painting the outside of the church lavendar. Well, now they have painted the inside a hot pink with a green and yellow ceiling! The benches are variegated and so the whole effect is bright but pretty. They are very proud of their little church and enjoy taking care of it. Just this past Sunday four more at Empalme followed the

Lord in baptism. The believers from Molina de Enriques joined in, both the afternoon baptismal and evening services. The presence of the Lord was very sweet indeed as the Christians welcomed the newly baptised into the fellowship of the church. It was a real time of rejoicing. One of the four who was baptised accepted the Lord only a few weeks ago. His wife has been a Christian since her youth and after praying for a number of years finally saw him won to the Lord Jesus. He had resisted the Lord for a long time but one evening in service he surrendered and found that for which he had been searching for so long. Once again proving that life without the Lord is very empty but with Him there is peace and joy. The number of students in the Bible study course is growing steadily. To date there are

more than fifty enrolled -and there are twenty prospective students on the. list. Seven have already finished their studies in John, received their certificates and gone on to the study of Acts. Without a doubt many will be won to the Lord through the sowing of the Seed in these Bible studies. Do keep praying for us. - Wishing you all a Merry Christmas, Carlyle, Freida, Brent and Terry Welty. - Thanksgiving in Germany To the Advance-News: I hope everyone sees this letter because it’s the only one my budget will allow this week. I hope you all understand. , My first thought is to wish you all a happy Thanksgiving, When you get this, it will be over, but I’m writing this the night before and I’ll be thinking

No really, I have so much to be thankful for, I’ll be saying thank you to God and all the people in my life for the rest of my life. I’m looking forward to my Thanksgiving here. Os course, no one has ever heard of it in Germany, but the eight exchangees are having dinner together. We’re all bringing something. We’re having turkey, corn bread dressing (compliments of Texas), cranberry sauce, home made bread, green beans, deviled eggs and pumpkin and mincemeat pies. I’m making the pies. I’ve never made one alone and don’t have a pie dough recipe. I’m going to try a dough my mother uses for apple strudel I hope It works! Also it will be oblong as they have no pie pans here.
