Dr. Albert Stewart, head of the music department of Purdue University, will be the special guest conductor at the "Get-acquainted Tea" sponsored by the Elkhart County Chorus on Tuesday, October 8, at 7:30 P.M. William Luhman, Puruue Glee Club accomoanist, and Byron Fox of the Purdue music staff will be coming with Dr. Stewart. The Tea will be held in Goshen, at the Westminster Hail, at 125 E. Lincoln Avenue. The county choruses from LaGrange, Noble, Kosciusko, and St. Joe counties will be guests at the Tea. Dr. Stewart has won fame by organizing and directing each year a women's chorus of 2500 voices made up of mostly rural women. It is the world's largest chorus of women's voices, and functioning through its county units, it has become a pattern in rural music many other states have followed. This famed group has become one of Indiana's greatest "ambassadors of good will". It has appeared, sometimes as a unit and sometimes with the Varsity Glee Club, at the National Capitol Sesquicentennial in Washington, D.C.. at the Canadian National Exhibition in Toronto, Canada, at the Hollywood Bowl in California, at the "Hoosier Homecoming" in Sarasota, Florida and at the Rose Festival in Portland, Oregon. Every woman who enjoys singing is invited to this "Get-acquaint-ed Tea" to meet these important people of Purdue's music department, to meet all the chorus members from Elkhart County and the neighboring counties, and to have a fun time singing under the direction of Dr. Stewart.
