The big. excitement Monday -was the appearance of a mule team and covered wagon in Nappanee. The train really received lobs of attention here and at their camp at six and fifteen in the evening. The Glen Reed family had a visitor last week. Silvester Herron, -Who spent a week in their home last summer, under the Fresh Air Program, returned for another week. He has made a number of friends here, and also was a participant and winner in the Jaycee Jr. track meet last

week before returning to his home in South Bend. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Gulp recently visited with their son and bis wife, Rev. and Mrs. Gary Culp in Elizabeth, New Jersey. The younger Culps returned June 8 after a school year in Edinburgh, Scotland. They are nicely settled in a furnished Methodist parsonage adjoining the church. They expect to be in Nappanee about August 15 for a few days. Their address is: Rev. and Mrs. Gary L. Culp, 476 Monroe Ave., Elizabeth, New Jersey. Six young persons traveled from here to Auburn Sunday to visit with the Rev. William Heimach family: Diana Stump, Kerry Miller, Sue McMurray, Bill Kuespert,' Pat Stouder and Mel Wiitt attended church there and then enjoyed a picnic lunch and had a nice visit with the Heimaehs. The Glen Reed family hosted
a going away party for their maid Elizabeth Mast, who is retaining to her home town, Jamesport, Missouri. Guests who enjoyed games and refreshments and watched Miss Mast open her gifts, were Silvester ( Herron, Ellen Hochstebler, Ben Leavitt family, Robert Lutes family, the Bob Millers and Kevin, Mrs. Wilbur Rensberger, Etta Fern Yoder, Beth Ann Widmoyer, Katie Miller, Esther Fanmwald, Alma Miller, .the Eld/on and Barbara, and the John Hostetlers and Glen. Miss Miast’s boyfriend arrived Sat.urdy to help her (get things ready, and on Monday Mrs. Reed drove them to the railroad station in Elkhart for their journey home. Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Fox are home again after a visit with their son and his family, the George Foxes, who reside in Temple City near Los Angeles, California. Mrs. Fox had flown ahead and spent three weeks, but Mr. Fox had to come later for a two
-week Stay. The family visited Disneyland and were amlazed at the realneas and perfection of displays and attractions. They bad special attraction for the “Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln”, G. E’s “World of Tomorrow”, and “It’s A Small World” exhibits. They also visited Universal Studios, where they saw the taping of Dateline Hollywood, one tape featured Gloria Swanson. They alsb saw the man in charge of Africa, U.S. A. Before ending tbeir stay, they saw Chinatown, Olvera Street, which features Mexican shops and Stores, the Long Beach Navy Yards and the Ports of Call, which are waterfront shops which feature items from different countries. On a boat, Mrs. Fox chose an oyster and received the contents, a cultured pearl. In La Vern they saw the 'Bill Kiidwell family ' who were. visiting there on their vacation. On the return trip home, the Foxes spent time in Phoenix, Arizona with Ron Hoi-

tar and his wife, the Joe Hollar family and the Howard Stumps. They were takes on a tour of Phoenix and Scottsdale end a drive through a canyon. On Malibu Beach they watched the surfers. It was a memorable vacation for the Foxes, who returned home Sunday. Mrs. Lora Belle Bunt was hostess at a bridal shower last Wednesday evening for Miss Charmain Collins of. Gary. She will 'become the bride of Mrs. Burt’s nephew, Lt. Thomas A. Edler, on July 22. Lt. Edler had spent sonafi time in Nappanee visiting with Burt, and it was believed Mends here would enjoy hearing about his engagement and future wedding. Guests at the shower included Mesdames Randall Collins, Brenda Clark and Miss Mona Valencia of Gary; Tom’s mother, Mrs. Hugh Gray, and his sister, Mrs. ■ James Bruce, California; Mesdames Arden Poor, Harold Wolford and Richard Anderson, of Warsaw; Mrs. Lloyd Poor and Miss Amy Jo Poor, West Lafayette; Mrs. Richard Poor and Lora Jean of Ft. Wayne and Mrs. Charles Edler of Etna Green. The Ron Bowers returned last week after a Cape Cod vacation. They first drove .to Washington, •D. C., where they met Mr. Bower’s parents, the H. J. Bowers of Roanoke, Virginia, and their daughter, Susan. The family then traveled to Oape Cod, Massachusetts, where they spent a week camping at the North of Highland camping area at Truro. Their activities for the week included sun bathing, and visiting antique shops and watching “Hspies” in PTovinceltown. They went deep sea ifiiShrng and Mr. Bower’s mother caught a 12 lb. haddock,

Indiana University High School Journalism Institute Newspaper Workshop members study award winning "All-American" newspapers in preparation for positions as school editors, photographers or advertising managers.
