Sounded like a Midwestern Bobby Kennedy. ★, ★ ★ We may be sticking our neck out, but wo firmly believe that the pool table at the Geld Crown Lane is one of the best k things which has happened recently for our young people. There's a constant demand" for it, and it provides good, wholesome recreation to a lot of people. ■k * * Martha i, Parcel I depsrit usually lisp. But in calling in a fire story last week, she was talking about the building which had S sews and pigs. It came out in her paper 8,000 pigs. The Goshen paper had the same trouble. The story was called in to them that it was 10 sows and 32 pigs. That papar had 10/132 pigs. ★ ★ ★ Was anyone else disappointed to see the Waky kids rooting for Gohen? * * * The big tragedy of the Sectional happened to the AdvanceNews. Photographer Keith Tobias wds changing his film so -that he could get pictures of Keith Dougherty cutting the nets. An exuberant ffn stepped on his film case and smashed it. Keith made a flying trip out to find some more film, but everything was closed. ★ * ★ t -We appreciated Steve Jensen's reference at the pep rally after the game to our lone fearless prediction of the outcome of the sectional. She arrived just in time for the final game. Another loyal fan, Ted Stoops, called from Florida on Sunday because he couldn't wait to find out how Nappanee had done. Let out a big whoop when he heard. * * .. * Mrs. Copenhaver from Goshen spoke at JClwanis Monday. She said that most Goshen fans were tickled about their win over Elkhart and are now pulling for the Bulldogs all the way. PROMOTED Jerry L, Golden, 20, son of Arthur S. Golden, Route 1, New Paris, was promoted to Army specialist fourth class January 30 in Germany, where he is serving with the Seventh U.S. Army, 513th Transportation Company. Spec. Golden, a clerk in the company near Mannheim, entered the Army in January 1966, and was stationed at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Md., before arriving overseas in June of last year. The son of Mrs. Jean Miller, Route 2, Goshen, he is a 1965 graduate of Jefferson High School in Goshen, and was employed by CTS Corp., in Elkhart, before entering the Army. , ON DEAN'S LIST Melvin C. Witt, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde L. Witt, 1053 E. Marion, St., Nappanee, has been named to the Dean’s List at Warren Wilson College, Swannanoa, N.C. Mr. Witt is a graduate of Nappanee High School, class of 1965. Warren Wilson College is a four year liberal arts college, owned and operated by the Board of National Missions, the United Presbyterian Church, UJS.A.

I Mrs. Clyde Copenhaver, (he es- - director of the Goshon chapter of the American Rep Cross, spoke to Kiwanis Monday. She outlined many of the serfices which the chapter performed. She said that there are some 427 volunteers connected with the Goshen chapter. Among their newest services is to call on shut 4ns. Already they have been providing volunteer help at the Hospital and at nursing homes. Mrs. Copenhaver spoke of the water safety program and commended Nappanee on the good work at its swimming pool. She said that the Red Cross has provided training for young people, several of whom are from Nappanee. Also there is scholarship aid available to send qualified young people through the National Aquatic School for further instruction. Another service is the training in first aid, and Mrs. Copenhaver said that instructors in first aid are now available if any group wants them. On the matter of blood, Mrs. Copenhaver stated that the Rad Cross is interested in obtaining blood for people who live or wort in the area under the jurisdiction of the Goshen chapter. It’s necessary, however, she said, that her office be informed of the need. * The human heart rests about 6 hours each day’ between beats.
