Bulldog Harriers Whip Triton 15-50 The Nappanee Bulldogs Cross Country team scored a clean sweep against Triton last Thursday coming out with the perfect score of 15 to Triton’s 50, Doug Chokey led the local harriers with a time of 10:07. Close behind him, and in this order, were Mike Sassaman, Dick Kaufman, Bill Kaufman, Craig Middaugh, Dennis Martin. Sam Sheets and A1 McQuinn. There was only a 24 second difference in time b tween Doug and Al, so there was a general Blue and White streak across the finish line. The first Triton runner finished behind McQuinn. Need a refresher on cross country scoring? First place gets one point, second gets two and so on through the first five places. A perfect score for a team is 15 and, obviously, the low score wins. Local meets are run on the South Side School property and adjacent property belonging to Fred Haney. HORSE PONY PROJECT The Horse and Pony project of the Elkhart County 4-H Club met at Boot Hill Ranch near Jones, Michigan on Saturday evening, September 10. The group enjoyed their evening meal and then went for a moonlight ride returning to camp for popcorn and fellowship. Sunday morning at 6 a.m. everyone was up caring for their horses and bacon and eggs was served prepared over a large iron kettle. There were 98 people attending the morning worship at 9 a.m. There were 74 children and parents on the trail ride with the rest of the group staying behind to pi'epare the lunch. Lunch was served along the trail ride which ended at 3 p.m. Everyone was happy, tired and dirty and ready to break camp and return home.
