Mr. and Mrs. Charles Mikel, Mrs. Paul Hochstetler and Mrs. Maude Miller of the Nappanee area visited Mrs. Herman Blessing Sunday afternoon. Spending Labor Day with Mr. and Mrs. Merl Mikel were Mr. and Mrs. Wayne McCuen, Steven, Vickie, Michael and Patrick of Chicago Heights and Mr. and Mrs. Keith McCuen, Debra, Diana and Darla. Tuesday Mr. and Mrs. Chance Thomas accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Harold Klotz to the Memorial Hospital, South Bend, to see Ray Thomas. Mr. Thomas, who had undergone surgery, returned to his Etna Green home Friday. Monday evening the Willard Higgins family called on Hazel Higgins and Dorotha Anthony. The Sunday morning speaker at Millwood Chapel Church will be a Gideon. Rev. McClasson of Elkhart will bring the evening message. Mr. and Mrs. Luther McColley of Indian Rock, Florida have been
guests in the Dale Byrer home. They are visiting Mrs. McColley’s relatives at Lafayette this week, then will return to the Byrer home for another visit before reurning to Florida. Saturday Mr. McColley and granddaughter, Myra Byrere, called on Mr. t and Mrs. Lester Rowland. Mrs. Charles Parks and Mrs. Yale Feltif and son, Kevin of near Argos spent Monday afternoon with Mr. and Mrs. Chance Thomas. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Edler had a farewell dinner Saturday for their grandson, Tommy Edler, Other guests were Mr. and Mrs. Carl Edler and Larry, South Bend, Charmaine Colins, Gary, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Blohm and Miss Beverly Becker, Kalamazoo. Tommy left Sunday by plane for southern California where he will visit his mother, Mrs. Hugh Gray, and sister, Mrs. Jim Bruce and family before going to Texas where he will enter the Air Force September 15. Mr. and Mrs. Chance Thomas called on Mrs. Lucy Rowe at the Prairie View Nursing Home, Warsaw, Friday. Earl Miller was a guest of Lee Collins at the Collins reunion Sunday. cabin near Middlebury Saturday. Vernon Stutzman was retained as president and Mrs. Wilbur Yoder will be secretary for the reunion which will meet in Indiana in 1968. A reunion of the same family will be held in lowa next year with lowa relatives as officers. Mr. and Mrs. Chance Thomas, Mr. and Mrs. Ople Ganshorn and Walter Thomas spent Sunday afternoon with Mario McDonalds. Fifteen small children sang “Everything’s All Right” and “Our God is Great” during the church school worship at Mt. Tabor Sunday. Mrs. i John Tobias sang “Each Step I Take.” Out of state visitors wetre Mr. and Mrs. Wes Welty, Kent, Kim and Kristi of Risingsun, Ohio and Mrs. Shirley Church and children who spent the past three years in Europe. Mr. Church, who is with the Air Force, is now located in Vietnam. During the church service, Miss Marsha Prichard sang “Only a Boy Named David.” The altar flowers were presented by Mr. and Mrs. Maynard Johnston in memory of their daughter, Karen. The young people who will be attending college this fall will be honored at Mt. Tabor Thursday evening. Following a meeting of the families in the church sanctuary, the high school and colletge students will have a time of fellowship at the- Fellowship Hall, and the other folks will meet in their usual classes. The pastor will speak on “Did God Ever Make Mistakes?” in the adult section. Scott township residents 21 years of age and older who are not registered to vote in the November election may do so by contacting Watler Miller, first house west of Community Center Store on north side, phone Millwood NI 6-2571. If you are in doubt, he has a list of voters who are presently registered. The Wayne Wood t family and Lloyd Harlans spent Labor Day at the home of Mr. and Mrs. C. G. Harlan. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Harman called on Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Harman three times last week. Ike is seriously ill. Mrs. James Stackhouse was a Saturday overnight guest of Mrs. William Stackhouse. The ladies attended church at Mt. Tabor Sunday morning, then went to the Stackhouse reunion. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Jones and Mr. and Mrs. Vern Marquart visited their one hundred year old aunt, Mrs. Flo Zirkel, at Findlay, Ohio Sunday.

Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Heckaman were Sunday supper guests of the Charles Edlers. The Bill Walters family spent Saturday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Bower. Sunday afternoon the Bowers called on Walter Haneys and Larry Comptons. Monday supper guests of the Glenn Rockhills were Rev. and Mrs. Lloyd Harlan and family. New officers of the Stackhouse reunion to serve in 1967 are Devon Moore, president, Loman Doty, vice president and Mildred Mikel, secretary-treasurer. The family met Sunday at the Mt. Tabor Fellowship Hall. Mt. Tabor Class Seven enjoyed a carry-in supper at the Paul Wise cottage last week. Betty Bolen of Mishawaka spent last week with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Jones, who took her home Sunday and spent the day with her parents and family, the Robert Bolens. . Mrs. Frank Slabaugh returned home from the Bremen hospital, where she underwent tests, Friday. TRAFFIC INCREASE According to a report from the Indiana State Highway Commission, traffic on Route 6 just east of Nappanee increased again during the month of June. There were 4941 cars during a 24 hour period, an increase of 4.3 per cent over the 4,738 cars during a similar, period in June, 1965. July showed a large gain in traffic in Nappanee. This year, for a 24 hour period, 5,129 cars passed on Route 6 compared to 4,949 last year, an increase ofg 16.2 per cent. Open strip mines produce about one-fourth of coal used in U.S.

TOPS DIETING DORAS On September 7 at 7:30 p.m., the Tops Dieting Doras met in the First National Bank social rooms for-their regular meeting. The meeting was called to order by Sandra Sharp. Roll call was answered by each members weight loss or gain. The secretary and treasurers reports were read and approved. Calorie charts were collected. The Queen of the week was selected and given her choice of gift from the Queen’s basket. The constitution and by laws were reviewed. This will be voted on at next weeks meeting. Last weeks Queen of the Week was Dolores Bigler with a loss of three pounds. She also was Queen of the Month with a total loss of eight pounds for the month of August. Bernice Baker had a loss of seven and one half pounds and Sandra Sharp lost seven pounds. If you would like more information about Tops, call Dolores Bigler, 773-4620 or Becky Worden, 773-4600. Guests are always welcome at any of our weekly meetings. CHURCH OF GOD The Women’s Missionary Society of the Nappanee Church of God will meet Monday evening, September 12 at 6:30 in the church annex. The meeting will be guest night by bringing your neighbor and a salad luncheon. The hostess for the evening will be Willodean Yoder, Dorothy Chupp and Donna Fitzgerald. There was no August meeting. A few of the ladies went to Yellow Lake to Missionary Retreat. If all motorists would drive Right, more would be Left.
