Mr. and Mrs. Harve Moore, Mrs. Ernest Parks, Miss Mae Doty, Mrs. Etta Doty, Miss Bernieee Harlan, Mrs. Glenn Rockhill mi Mrs. Wayne Wood spent Friday afternoon at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Harlan, honoring Mrs. Harlan’s birthday. Ice cream, cake and punch were served. Attendance at Mt. Tabor church Sunday morning was 185. ‘Td Rather Have Jesus” was sung by Mrs. John Tobias during the worship service. Out of state guests were Mrs. Bernieee Unsicker, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Young and son, Mesa, Arizona, Mr. and Mrs. Burt Oftelie, Anaheim, California, Mrs. Lucille Jenkins. Saskachewan, Mr. and Mrs. George Bowen, Miss Rhonda Thompson, Lead-wood, Missouri and Thomas Hoffman, Santa Cruz, California. The special building fund offering was SB5l.
Sunday morning’s speaker at Mt. Tabor will be P. J. Zondervan, past president of the International Gideon Association, who will also be the featured speaker at the Gideon banquet at Winona Lake Friday. The Sunday evening service is being recalled because of the opening session of the Indiana Church of God Eldership at Bear Lake Camp, with Rev. Walter Bure ham as speaker. The Mt. Tabor congregation has been invited to the wedding of Miss Mary Ann Dawalt and Stephen Stine Wednesday, August 17, at 8:00, with reception following at the Fellowship Hall. The Mt. Tabor baptismal service is scheduled for the morning of August 21 following church school. Mrs. John Thomas called on Mae and Etta Doty last Monday. Mr. and Mrs. George Myers of South Bend called at the Henry Myers home last Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Duncan were Tuesday visitors. A family get-together was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. George Grimm Sunday honoring Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Tobey and family of Dublin, California. Others present were the Bill Grimm family, Max Grimms, Lloyd Balsleys, Carlyle Grimms, Alfred Heplers arid Richard Harmans. The Tobeys are making their headquarters at the George Grimm home this week while visiting Hoosier relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Blessing called on Mrs. Herman Blessing

Sunday. • Mr. and Mrs. Henry Myers and Mrs. Lloyd Milter and Ruth Jane attended the funeral of Ira Bechtel at the Yoder-Culp Funeral Horae, Goshen, Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Bower and Miss Mae Doty attended the United Missionary camp meeting south of Elkhart Sunday afternoon and en route home called on Mr. and Mrs. James Walters. Sunday dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Harlan and Miss Bernieee (who has been spending her vacation with her parents) were Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Rockhill and Thomas Hoffman, the latter of Santa Cruz, California. Afternoon callers were Mrs. Grace Huffman, Mrs. Paul Kolo, Jr., Mrs. Richard Cain, Mrs. John Applegate, Mr. and Mrs. Warren Harlan and family of Greenhills, Ohio and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Miller and sons. Mr. Hoffman, who spent Saturday and Sunday nights with the Roekhills. was en route from his home to Boston, Mass, where he will serve in the Air Force soar years. His grandparents were the late Estella Harlan and Roscoe Huffman of this community, who moved to California about 1823. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Miller attended the wedding of Miss Amelia Fay Satterfield, daughter of Mrs. Elvira Satterfield, and Spencer Allen Miller, son of Mr. and MrsVirgil Miller Saturday at the First Methodist Church, Buchanan, Michigan, Saturday afternoon. Following the reception, they were luncheon guests of the groom’s parents. The groom is in the navy serving on the Forrestal. The newly weds plan to live near Norfolk, Virginia.
Emanuel Miller and Mr. and Mrs. Joni Gmgerich spent Sunday at the Harry Shrocks. Ernest Goods spent Sunday afternoon with Buell Hoffers where they enjoyed homemade ice cream. Recent callers at the Charles Edler home were Mr. and Mrs. Charles Heckaman and three children of Phoenix, Arizona. Among those attending camp at Crystal Lake this week are Diane Gall, Sharon Hartzell and Wanda Watkins. Donald Fishers had dinner with Gerald Hartzell, then the group Visited Mr. and Mrs. Ora Benson. Sunday afternoon Mrs. John Thomas attended the wedding of her granddaughter, Miss Sue Ann Thomas, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Thomas, to Robert Kent Huffman. After returning from a
Pennsylvania honeymoon, they will reside en a farm north of Etna Green. Louise Hepler will be hostess to the Progressive Homemakers Club Wednesday afternoon with Edith Hepler as co-hostess. Mary Disher and Gladys Hepler will be in charge of the program, with meditations by Eva Gaashorn. Roll call wilT be “health hints."
The Millwood Chapel Ladies Aid members, husbands and children enjoyed a picnic Wednesday at Centennial Park, Plymouth, with about forty present. Table grace was said by Dorothy Kanode. The program included singing “Near the Cross,” poem, “Treasury,” Marjorie Berkey, prayer, Cecil Jenkinson, hymn, “My Hope is Built,” roll call answered by reciting Bible verses, letter from their “adopted Korean girl read by Ruth Thomas, which thanked them for their five dollar gift and enclosed a picture showing her hearing two of her purchases, a sweater and skirt, an original humorous reading, “The Ladies Aid Secretary’s Report,” Hazel Gay, benediction, Lillie Harman and contests conducted by Hazel Gay and Vivian Thomas. Seymour family members met at the Bourbon Park Sunday. The table blessing was given by Glenn Disher. Mary Jones led group singing of “Let the Lower Lights be Burning,” “The Promises that Assure us of Eternal Life” was given by Hazel Higgins, Truman Nifong who was attending a nearby reunion played harmonica selections and Glenn Disher gave a reading, “Friendly Sort of Ways”. New officers are Donald Martin, South Bend, president and Olive Sherril, Mishawaka, secretary. The oldest person present was Adam Martin, 93, Osceola and the youngest, Angela Troup, 2 of St. Joseph county. Mrs. Darrell Prichard’s parents of Leadwood, Missouri spent the weekend at the Prichard home, expecting to visit their daughter in the hospital. However, her operation had been rescheduled for this week. Mrs. Hubert Gane and Linda of Decatur, Indiana spent last week with Rev. and Mrs. Warren McCuen. Mrs. Gladys Mast, Mrs. Harold Mast and Mrs. Garry Golden were also Wednesday dinner guests. Rev. and Mrs. Warren McCuen had Sunday dinner with Mr. and Mrs. William Hamilton, Warsaw. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Mikel and family have returned home from a six day vacation to Mackinac, Sault Ste. Marie and Niagara Falls. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Weldy became the parents of their third daughter, Nancy Lynn, Monday, August 8. She weighed 7 lbs. 2 oz. at birth. Mrs. Weldy is the former Carolyn Yeager, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Yeager. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Edler called on Lester Rowlands Tuesday.
NAMED TO BOARD Red Weber of the Gold Crown Lanes attended the annual convention of the Indiana Bowling Proprietors Association in Crawfordsville last week. He was elected for a two year term to the Board of Directors of the State Association. There are 8 men on the Board, four elected each year. The Board sets policy and arranges promotion of the Association. Weber has been president of the North Central Association for two years.
