There were 18 guests in attendance, all of which were Sunday School classmates of the bride-to-be. The gift table was decorated in green and yellow with wedding bells and a miniature bride centerpiece. Miss Smeltzer was presented with a white mum corsage. The mothers of the couple, Mrs. Wayne Smeltzer and Mrs. Floyd Herr, were presented with corsages of kitchen utensils. John Brademas To Speak At Bayh Banquet Congressman John Brademas, of South Bend, will be guest of honor at a “Rally-Hound!” Banquet to be held Tuesday, October 19, in the Hotel Elkhart, it was announced today by Richard W. Rosse, Elkhart County Democratic Centra! Committee chairman. U. S. Senator Birch Bayh, of Terre Haute, will be featured speaker at the $25-a-plate fundraising dinner. County Home Demonstration Clubs Meet Oct. 13 The Achievement Day Program of the Elkhart County Home Demonstration Clubs will be held on Wednesday, October 13, at 7:30 o.m. at the Elkhart Township Junior High School Cafetorium. The principle speaker will be Lois Pence, Women’s Director of WSBT-TV and Radio, South Bend, and producer of “Homemaker’s Time.” A fashion show will be presented by members of the clubs. This wardrobe is on loan from the Simolicity Pattern Company. The program will also feature special music by the country chorus, a nemorial service and the installa:ion of the new officers. During the coffee time a door prize will be awarded.

' Gulp! Tomorrow is the last day of the 6 weeks period, which means report Cards! Have a ball on your last weekend, kids, cause if you goofed off earlier you’ll probably be forced to “dig in” now! A good remedy to all of this mess, would be to study the first time around. Tonight is the big night for the Homecoming bonfire. Team spirit is sure to be enlivened by the parade which will start in Pletcher’s parking lot and terminate at Stauffer Park. Parents and adults: You are invited! We hope a big crowd will turn out to bolster our team on to victory! Speaking of victories, our team is top rate! Not many schools can boost of a 4-0-1 record, mainly because the boys and the coach who worked so hard to obtain this record go to our school! Congratulations, Team! If you can just repeat your past wins, no one will complain. The B-team. also emerged victorious in their game with Warsaw. A score like 7-6 adds up to a pretty thrilling game, for the team as well as the spectators! Well, Miss Weeks and her crewhit the jack-pot on weather again. She and two G. A. A. officers, Barb Wise, president, and Anita Conrad, vice president, attended the State G. A. A. camp last weekend at Delphi, Indiana, for meetings comparable to officers’ training sessions. The juniors and seniors were excused again last week from class for a few minutes. Mr. Von Stall, the director of Junior Achievement Association, spoke and gave a slide presentation on the organization, explaining all its facets. Those who were interested in learning about business operation took registration cards. | Preparation for the Junior Miss contest is well underway. So far the gals who plan to enter have met twice in the basement of the bank and learned the rules and regulations, besides acquiring in- , formation concerning wearing apparel, etc. It is hoped that more girls will participate. So far, only eight girls have shown, positive interest. Miss Weeks is the chief supporter down at the school. She’s been very busy drumming up contestants, lately. This is a very good chance to display your talent, Senior Girls, so if you have any interest in the contest at all, go sign up! The junior really went wild with their magazine sales. Thanks to you, community, they went way over their goal. Originally, the top limit was set at $4,200, but it kept

Babies Born To 3 Neighbors On The Same Day Babies were born to three families from the same road at the Bremen Hospital Saturday. Lora Jean Hochstetler, new daughter of the Solomon Hochstetlers, Paul Joy Mullet, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jonas D. E. Mullet, and Levi H. Mast, the son of the Henry A. Masts were all born within hours of each other. The babies and the mothers are reported doing well. INSTALLED ON BOARD Rev. Harold Thrasher, 162 E. Walnut, Nappanee, was installed Friday as a Visitor on DePauw University’s Joint Board of Trustees and Visitors. Minister of the Nappanee Methodist Church, Rev. Thrasher was one of six new Visitors taking a seat on the 49-member board of the private liberal arts college. The 1924 DePauw Phi Beta Kappa graduate was elected to the oneyear term by the North Indiana Conference of The Methodist Church, one of three Methodist conferences in the state. Announcement of the installation was made by Bernard Kilgore, president of the DePauw board and president of Dow Jones and Company, publisher of The Wall Street Journal and The National Observer. Etna Green Church Homecoming This Sunday The program for the Home Coming at the Etna Green Church of Christ next Sunday, October 10, will be as follows: Bible School at 9:30, Velorous Stouder, Supt.; Morning Worship at 10:30; organist, Raymond Baker Jr.; Communion Service, Elders serving. There will be two musical specials. The message by Rev. Gene Neyhart, pastor, will be “Coming Home.” There will be a basket dinner at noon. At 2 p.m. the Menno Mens Chorus of Goshen will present a concert. Following the concert, a fellowship period will be enjoyed in the basement. The public as well as members and former members ar invited to attended any or all of the services.

CUB SCOUTS Den 8 of Cub Scouts met at the home of their den mother, Mrs. Glen Reed, Monday, September 27, for their first meeting. The group Went to the apple orchard for a tour and refreshments were served by Steve Miller. Monday, October 4, the boys met and elected the following officers: Denner, Rex Pippen; Reporter, John Leavitt; Clean-up, Scott Strang; Scribe, David Kidwell. Refreshments were served by Brand Fuller. The pack meeting will be Monday night, October 18, at 7:30 and all parents are invited to attend.
