Saturday evening guests of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Rockhill were Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Rockhill, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Sparrow, Htna Green, and Homer Teagarden of Akron, 0. Mr. Teagarden was enroute to Peoria, 111., to visit his son, then expects to go to Wisconsin in an attempt to learn more about the Teagarden family, which he has traced back to 1832. Rev. and Mrs. Lloyd Harlan and family expect to be at the Clayton Harlan home Thursday night and Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Kauffman and Mrs. Mary Domer of Topeka visited Mrs. John Applegate and Mrs. Walter Miller and sons Tuesday afternoon. Mrs. Kauffman and Mrs. Domer are sisters of Mrs. Laura Strombeck Judge. Mrs. John Moore celebrated her 91st birthday August 21 at the home of her sister, Mrs. Clifford Burkholder, at Tyner. She was born in Elkhart County, the daughter of Christian and Elizabeth Killian. At the age of 18 she moved to Kosciusko County and was married to John Moore in 1894 at Warsaw'. Mr. Moore died in 1936. She v/as the oldest of 10 children, five sisters and five brothers. Her youngest- sister is now 73. All her brothers, now deceased, celebrated their 80th birthday with one exception. Mrs. Moore’s sisters are Mrs. Lawrence Pontius, Walkerton, Mrs. Clifford Burkholder, Tyner, Mrs. Anna Weaver, Eugene, Oregon, and Mrs. Emma Teeter, Nappanee. She has two children, Harvey and Mrs. Floyd Anglin, four grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren ar.d one great-great-grandchild. She makes her home w’ith her daughter, but enjoys visiting her son, sisters and other relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Warren Harlan and family of Greenhills, Ohio, vacationed last week with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Merl Wolf of Atwood and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. G. Harlan. Miss Bernieee Harlan was also on vacation from her duties as x-ray technician at Memorial Hospital, South Bend. Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Bower were Mrs. Elsie Stackhouse and Rev. and Mrs. Herman Hedges of Churubusco. Mrs. Glenn Rockhill gave a dinner Sunday honoring the birthday of her husband. Guests were the Russell Thomas family, Jack Yontz family, Alvin Rockhills and Robert Rockhills. Teresa is a graduate of Nappanee High School and is employed in the office of Coppes, Inc. Mr. Evans is a graduate of Nappanee High School and is employed by Reliable Dairy. Houseguests of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Myers from Friday evening until Sunday evening were their granddaughters, Mary and Susie Miller. The Millwood Chapel congregation held the evening service at Hope Mission Sunday. The Harold Gay family moved to their new home at Carmel Saturday. Mrs. Nora Huffman is a patient at the Prairie View Nursing Home in Warsaw. A daughter, Mrs. Warren McCuen, cared for her as long as her health permitted. The Russell Yeagers and John enjoyed a one day vacation in southern Indiana Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Don Fisher and Jean Ann called on Virgjl Fishers Sunday. The Virgil Davidhizar family and Mr. and Mrs. James Gall and daughters spent Sunday with Gerald Hartzell. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hartzell were evening callers. Mr. and Mrs. Maynard Sparks visited Mrs. Dallas Sparks in Ft. Wayne Saturday morning. Bend Sunday to pick up Mrs. Owen Hamman of, Cleveland, Ohio, and bring her home with them for a week’s visit. The George Sheets family and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Heckaman and children enjoyed an outing at Warren Dunes in Michigan Sunday. A barn on the farm owned by the heirs of the late Dr. Slabaugh was destroyed by fire Sunday afternoon. Firemen from Nappanee kept the blaze from spreading to nearby buildings. It is reported that the fire killed two horses and destroyed a corn planter, garden tractor and other equipment. A potluck birthday dinner was enjoyed at the home of the Devon Klotz family Sunday by Mr. and Mrs. Ed Brock of Bourbon, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Brock and daughters, Miss Carol Ann Brock, Michigan City, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Klotz and Johnny, Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Klotz and Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Thompson and family. Rev. and Mrs. Marion Shroyer of Columbia City and the Homer Ganshorns were Sunday dinner guests of the Floyd Anglins. The George Grimms spent Sunday afternoon with Bill Grimms. The Lloyd Heplers visited the Dale Heplers at Syracuse Sunday. The Max Grimms and George Grimms spent Friday in Chicago shopping.
