Bulldogs Down Lions 28-8 Nappanee’s Bulldogs dominated most of the football game Friday against Bremen’s Lions. A week of practice in which tackling and blocking were emphasized paid off. Bremen failed to go anywhere in the air, and most of their plays revolved around Gary Stuntz, who was able to pick up five to eight yards almost every time he carried the ball on a power sweep. During the game, Ted Frick got off some good punts, averaging 37 yards. Nappanee scored a touchdown in, each quarter. The Bulldogs took advantage of Bremen’s second costly fumble recovered by Steve Culp on the Lions 15. Andy took it for 6, and Jay Miller made it 7. Bremen drove into Nappanee territory in the second quarter, but were penalized 15 yards after they had made three first downs in a row. Then Jim Andrews intercepted a Bremen pass. Nappanee got a clipping penalty at that point and another 15 yard penalty a few plays later. They were forced to punt then. But the next time they got the ball, Jim Andrews picked up yardage followed by a 60 yard touchdown run by Dave Callander, aided by everyone carrying out his blocking assignments to perfection. Jay Miller again made the extra point to make it 14 to 0 at the half. In the third quarter, Dave Callander again broke away for a 62 yard touchdown run, and Jay again kicked the extra point, i The fourth quarter saw Jerry Clipp break away and run for about 40 yards, but the play was called back. Late in the game, Rod Clouse blocked a Bremen punt deep in Lion territory, and Jerry Clipp picked it up and went in for a final touchdown. Jay kept up his record by making it four good points after. At the end of the game, some of the younger men got their chance and were able to contain Bremen adequately. Everyone played a good game both on defense and offense. <9 The Bulldogs go to Concord next Friday.

Family Rooms THE COMFORTABLE, secluded family rooms in our funeral home are there because families 1 need their precious privacy —if only for a few hours in between the times when they must face their difficult social responsibilities in time of bereavement. Ironically, death is not only a disrupter of family life, but also serves to cement family bonds. In the seclusion of the family room the re-creation of family solidarity often takes place. B Team & Junior High Lose On a cold gloomy Saturday morning, the Nappanee B football team had rough going against Bremen. Bremen was able to score early in the first quarter, cutting through and around Nappanee’s line for consistent gains. Their p.a.t. made it 7 to 0. Later in the quarter they intercepted a Bulldog pass and went ahead 14 to 0. In the start of the second quarter, Nappanee fumbled, and Bremen recovered and made it 21 to 0. Then, when Nappanee again 'got the ball, a fumble caused them to lose it again. Nappanee looked much stronger in the second half. Brad Newcomer intercepted a Bremen pass. Louis Swihart passed to Stump for a touchdown. It was then 21 to 6. The Nappanee defense then started to click, and they held Bremen for four downs, but in the fourth quarter, after getting two first downs easily, Bremen again scored. A final attempt by Nappanee was broken up by a pass interception. The B team has a home game scheduled with Warsaw on October
