Cords went to the major league. Even before his arrival, however, the sons of John Wesley clobbered their erstwhile brothers at EUB 19 to 8 behind three doubles by Jerry Wcljly. a homer by Jim Phillips, three hits by D. Paul Culp, and a 1 triple and a home run by Mike
Mitchell. For EUB, Dave Lemler got three hits as did Dean Knepp. The North Amish had a big week. They beat EUB 9 to 4 with two homers by Marvin Miller and one by< Wayne Miller. Marvin got a double, triple and homer in the game against the Church of the Brethren, which the Amish won IP to 9. In that game Howard Miller ! got a homer, and Larry and Jay Hochstetler each got three hits. For the Church of the Brethren, Jim Warren got three hits, and Clate Miller. Ron Elliot, and Brent Gall each got two hits. The Church of the Brethren beat the First Brethren 10 to 2 behind the hitting of Bob Strang and Brent Gall. The Presbyterian A team Whipped Wakarusa 11 to 9. Ed Kern goi two homers, and Dick Biever one. There was lots of action in the B league. Locke gobbled up Turkey Creek 11 to 4. LaMar Hochstetler got a double and a home run for the winners, and Lawrence Hall got one for the losers. The Presbyterian B’s beat Nazarene 17 to 4. Old Hack Heimach got around the bases with a triple and a home run. Strangler Strak owski (who may be benched for a spell) got a double and a triple. Turkey Creek was further pluck ec! by North Main 20 to 12. There was plenty of hitting on both sides as Marv Mast got three hits. Gene Schrock a double and 2 homers, Dana Stickje a home run, and Rod Weaver a double and a ttiple. For the losers. Lenny Blosser, Lawrence Hall, and Roger Weaver got homers, and Don Fervida'got three bits. Central Amish got by Union Center 14.t0 10 on two hits by Ray Hochstetler and a triple and a homer by Ivan the Terrible Anderson. Millwood beat St. John’s 10 to 3, blasting again our pre-season expectations for ..St. John’s. Three Klotzes accounted for two homers, two doubles. Mount Tabor beat North Main 11 to 3. Jerry Neff got a long blast in that game. St. John's made a comeback 6 to 4 over Locke. Bill Kurtz, Lowell Clipp, and Doug Hoffer were the big hitters. Extra Bowling Match Brings Steaks To Winner Two of the league'champions of bowling had a match to settle which was the better team. Heckaman Manufacturing and the AdvanceNews team battled Friday night. The arrangement w'as that the sponsor of the losers would buy steak dinners for t,he winners. Ii was further arranged that the match would be boweld at Elkhart The Advance-New r s might have been favored, but two of its team members. Jim Newcomer and Vance Frederick, were incapacitated. Heckaman suffered a sei back \\hen Chuck McFall turned up sick. After taking an early lead, the Advance-New'S saw its overall advantage pared down to 17 pins. This however, was enough, and the two teams enjoyed steaks at the Main Grill about ten p.m. Friday. Pete Heckaman, possibly contem plating minor changes in his lineup, expressed confidence that next year would tell a different story. Nappanee Beats New Paris 3 to 2 Nappanee got by New Paris in a close baseball game last week 3 to 2. Nappanee scored three unearned runs and New Paris scored their runs in the sth inning with a home run with a man on base. Dean was the winning pitcher. He struck out 4 men in four innings, and Mel Witt struck out 6 in three innings. Yoder at second base played a fine defensive game. Nappanee hitters were Dean 1. and Yoder 2. CABLE STITCH CLUB The Cable Stitch Club will meet with Mrs. Stanley Berger. Monday, June 8 at 7 p m. Elizabeth Culp is co-hostess. A trip to the Hubbard Hill Museum is planned. Ladies Golf Is Underway At Maxwelton Maxwelton Golf Course has opened the season for Ladies Day. On May 26th, winners for 18 holes were Alot Stiver in low putts. Marge Newcomer in low gross and Helen Willimas in low net. Winners of those golfing nine holes were, low putts, Dorothy Stahly and Elta nor Eisenhower; low net. Esther Kiester and Julia Reed. On June 2nd, the winners of the 1“ holes, medal play, with no handicap. were low gross and second low gross; Rosa Matthews and Marge Newcomer, respectively. Betty Kline was the winner of the low putts. In the 9 hole competition. Margraet Pundum had the low gross with Inez Beiswanger coming in second. The winner of the low putts was June Brown. A golf clinic for the ladies of the association will begin June 9th at 9:30 a.m. This will he given by Tom Merritt, a professional golfer. Guest day will be held on the 23rd of June. RECEIVES AWARD Mr. Max E. Grimm, R3. Nappanee, has been presented a Sow and Pig Management Award by the Moorman Manufacturing Company. The award is being made to hog raisers whose sows wean larger-than-average litters. Mr. Grimm received a simulated oak plaque, showing a sow wtih pigs nursing, which is a reprodue tion of an original hand - carving done especially for this award. A brass plate on the plaque is engraved with his name. In making the award, the Moor man Company pointed out that i hog raiser's care and management of sows is vitally important, along with good breeding and feeding, fer efficient pork-producing results. Raymond Wilson was, “When They Read Our Epitaphs.” Women's Society of World Ser\ ice will have their Annual Convention at Oakwood Park this week beginning Tuesday till Thursday. Annual Conference begins June Bth. Mrs. Robert Rumfelt will serve as Conference Delegate for Island Chapel. GRADUATION RECEPTION Carolyn Biller and Dane Rumfelt were honored at Island Chapel Annex following their High School Graduation at Milford, by a reception with their respective families, relatives and friends. 57 attended. Decorations w'ere green and white in keeping with their class colors. Their motto is, “We’ll find a path, or make one." Gift tables were decorated and lovely gifts were received by each one. Dennis Rumfelt was also honored as a graduate from Butler University. Rev. Raymond Wilson presented the three graduates with a red rose, pinned on them by their mothers. Decor ated cake, ice cream, nuts and coU fee were served by their parents, the Royce Billers and Robert 'Rumfelts. The lunch was followed by devotions and games. Mr. and Mrs. Galen Haney. Lynn and Lyle, Long Island, New York, were honored with a family dinner at the home of Mr. and Mrs. For rest Hawley, Bourbon, R.R. Others present were Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth. Haney, Larry Haneys and Eugene Cottons, Ronald, Gary and Terry of Pierceton. The Galen Ilaneys and the rest of the families were guests during the week at times with Kenneth Haneys, who are in the process of rebuilding their chicken coupe which was partly destroyed by fire. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Biller, Gary and Mrs. Partita Halck, Gary, were Thursday dinner guests of Henry Billers. They also visited the Theodore Dinkledeins, Guy Biller. Royce Billers, Ralph Billers, Eari Billers, the Tom Roberts family, and Floyd Davises. The Royce Biller family were Sunday dinner guests of Raymond Wises and family. Melvin and Gertrude Miller, Nappanee, began a two year term of service under the Mennonite Board of Missions and Charities, Elkhart, lnd„ recently. They have been assigned to serve at Gospel League, Chicago, as mission assistants. Mr. Miller is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Miller, Nappanee, Before going into service, he was working at Liberty Coach Cos., Syracuse, as a mobile home builder. Mrs. Miller is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Miller, both deceased. The Millers are both members of the North Main Street Mennonite Church, Nappanee. Gospel League where Millers have been assigned was established over 50 years ago. Mennonite Mission Board has only been supplying volunteer workers since 1960, however. Workers assist in securing employment for unemployed fathers and women in the Home, supply food and clothing to neighborhood needy, visit homes, hospitals and jails and conduct deputation meetings. The League cooperates with 20 welfare agencies. Traveler's Aid and the courts. There is no barrier as to race, color or creed. Currently there are four volunteer workers serving there under the Mennonite Mission Board. .

Biller, and Sally Berkeypile, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Berkeypile, Milford, were married last week at the Goshen Methodist Church. They will live in a Goshen apartment. She'is. attending Goshen College and he is employed at Ford Motors, Mil Win./' Ralph Biller was a Friday dinner guest of Mrs. Robert Rumfelt and Donal. * Mrs. Raymond Wilson is recovering from a week of medical care at the Murphy Hospital. She was returned to her home Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Kuhns visited Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Davis Sunday afternoon.

Mr. and Mrs. Roy Martz announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Judith Ann, to Ralph Lee Tobias, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Tobias. Judy is a 1964 graduate of Nappanee High School and Ralph is a 1962 graduate. He is now employed by Heekaman Trailers.'The wedding is set for August 8.
