The gift exchange was held at the Yeager home later in the evening. Earl and Ray Miller spent Tuesday morning at the C. G. Harlan home getting acquainted with their cousins, Mark and Dale Harlan of Greenhills, Ohio. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Mikel and Mrs. Herman Blessing enjoyed Chritmas with Mr. and Mrs. Dale Mikel, Randy and Ron. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Kerlin called on their cousins, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Rowland, last Sunday afternoon. Funeral services were held Friday for Mrs. Gertrude Smith of R 4, Warsaw, who died Monday night at her home after being in failing health several months. Burial was in the Leesburg Cemetery. She was born Feb. 8, 1875, the daughter of William B. and Ellen (Rusher) Anglin. Her husband, Edward H. Smith, to whom she was married on June 13, 1901, preceded her in death in 1936. Survivors include two sons, Arthur E. and Charles W. Smith, both of near Warsaw, a sister, Mrs. Ethel Holloway, Sherman Oaks, Calif., and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mrs. Anglin was a former teacher in Scott Township.

Olen Anglins and Lowell Anglins spent Christmas with Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Anglin and Mrs. John Moore. On Christmas eve Floyds called on Mrs. Ora Anglin, and Olens and Lowells called on her on Christmas Day. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Weirick of Warsaw had dinner on Christmas eve with Mr. and Mrs. Buell Hoffer and family. On Christmas- Day the Hoffers were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Devoe Stagkhouse, Adrian and Brenda.

A family Christmas dinner was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bonnie Church, Plymouth. Miss Helen Salisbury, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Salisbury of Lansing, Mich., and William (Bill) Walters, foster son of Mr. and Mrs Joseph Bower, were united in marriage Saturday evening, December 21, at the Warsaw Gospel Tabernacle. Rev. John Reid performed the double ring ceremony. The bride was attired in a floor length gown and carried a Bible and roses. Sherry Brunk of Boifrbon was bridesmaid and Jam&s Walters served his brother as best man. Lori Dunlap, niece of the bride, was flower' girl. Her brother-in-law, Dwight Dunlap, of Etna Green, gave away the bride in the absence of her father who was unable to be present. Larry Coble of Warsaw was usher. Vocalists were Mrs. John Reid and Mrs. Hill and Mrs. Jackson was organist. A reception followed in he social room of the Atwood Fire Station. Mr. and Mrs. Walters are now at home in an apartment above the Atwood Post Office. Mr. Walters is employed by Creighton Bros, and the bride by Blue Bell at Warsaw. Among the Christmas Day guests of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Thompson were Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Bower and Mr. and Mrs. Fay Thompson. Mr. and Mrs. William Walters and James Walters spent Christmas eve with Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Bower. Lola Thomas fell Thursday and it had not been learned yet at this writing whether she had broken her ankle. Nellie Sechrist of NajSpanee also fell and broke her ankle.

THROUGH THB SYCAMORES The Indiana State Highway Department has erected a sign along Ind. 29 south of Deer Creek in Carroll County informing tourists of the hsitorical significance of the stately* sycamore trees that line the road leading to a bridge over Deer Creek. The sign reads: "This row of syrcamores sprouted from freshly cut logs used in the 1830’s to -corduroy a swampy section of the historic Michigan Road, the first ■state road in Indiana running from Madison to Michigan City.”
