I spending a portion of the week 'with Mary Pickert at Johnstown, Pa. Mrs. Herman Blessing’s callers last week were Mrs. Warren Brock and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Heisler. Tuesday Mrs. Blessing and Mrs. Charles Mikel visited Mr. and Mrs. Ed Rusher at Alfran Nursing Home, Warsaw. ! Mr. and Mrs. Warren Brock became the parents of a son Sunday at Elkhart General Hospital. He veighed 7 lb. 15 oz. and is named Uric. ....... Mr. and Mrs. Victor Gay visited heir son, Ralph, at Michigan City Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Merl Dewalt spent he weekend in Ohio with their son, 'arl, and wife. Mr. and Mrs. Chance Thomas .ailed on Mr. and Mrs. Ora Benson near North Webster Monday. Twenty-seven members and friends of the Progressive Homemakers Club enjoyed a luncheon meeting at the B & B Case Wednesday. The program consisted of group singing led by Grace Snell, short poems and readings by Eva Ganshorn, Omah Stackhouse, Ruth Whiteleather and Lola Thomas, longer readings by Louise Hepler and Edith Hepler, a poem by Pearl Applegate and skits by Marjorie Mikel, Ada Jones and Alma Parks. The Club’s family night will be observed November 25 at Mt. Tabor Fellowship Hall. Alice Dooley of Elkhart spent Saturday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Stutzman. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Lehman and daughter of Howe called on Mr. and Mrs. Chance Thomas Wednesday evening. Mt. Tabor Senior CGYA members who went to Findlay, O. Saturday were Teresa Ganshorn, Christine Wise, Barbara Sparks, Marie Stutzman, Bob Wood, Allen Wood and Tim Hoffer. Their sponsors, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Parks and minister, Rev. Walter Burcham, also went. The group toured the college campus, including the new science hall, dorms and seminary, and attended a football game. All returned home after the game but Mr. and Mrs. Parks, who stayed all night and attended services at the College Church of God Sunday morning. The Jack Hamman family had dinner with Mrs. Howard Church iSunday. Special Day All ladies and men of the community are invited to attend the observance of World Community Day at Mt. Tabor Fellowship Hall Friday, November 1. The local countrychurches are participating and the theme will be “The Book in My Hand,” with an offering for the American Bible Society being liftea. A salad lunch will be served at 11:30 and the afternoon sessioon starts at 1:15. Dr. V. O. Barnhart will be at Mt. Tabor Church Sunday morning, speaking on the Camp Development Program. Rev. Lloyd Harlan of 407 S. Jackson, Auburn, underwent an emergency appendectomy last week. I Mr. and Mrs. John McClung have painted their newly-acquired house trailer light green and expect to park it a short distance west of the Community Center store. My. and Mrs. Glenn Rockhill, Mrs. Wayne Wood, Mrs. C. G. Harland and Miss Berniece Harlan spent the weekend at Greenhills, Ohio with Mr. and Mrs. Warren I Harlan and family. Mrs. Anglin gave a short resume of the accomplishments of the WCSC during the past ten years. After singing “Blest Be the Tie,” Leota Compton and Ethel Haney served refreshments. John Yeager is a member of a Findlay College Team, whose other members are Dave Green, Jim Holderman, Barbara Lewis, Bonnie Smith and Sally Watson. They were at Ft. Wayne Sunday morning, Syracuse in the afternoon and at the Silver Creek church Sunday evening. Mr. and Mrs. George Buss, Jr. became the parents of a 71b. 7 oz. daughter on October 15. She has been named Karen Lynn. Mr. and Mrs. James Gall and daughters spent Sunday with Sanford Galls. Monday evening they called on Mrs. Dallas Hartzell. Sixty-four attended morning worship at Hepton Union Church. At the evening service Miss Lois Knepp played a trumpet solo. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hartzell and son spent Sunday with Gerald Hartzell. Leßoy and Shirley Chupp, Nappanee, Ind., began a term of service under the Mennonite Board of Missions and Charities, Elkhart, Ind., recently. They have been assigned to serve at Portland, Oreg., as unit leader and hostess. Mr. Chupp is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Levi Chupp, Nappanee. Before going into service, he was working at Metzler Shoe Company, Nappanee, as a shoe salesman. Mrs. Chupp's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Reuben Reist, Salem, Oreg. She was employed by Dr. M. L. Weldy (veterinary), Wakarusa, Ind., as office girl. The Chupps are both members of the Salem Mennonite Church, New Paris, Ind. About 200 young persons are currently serving in this voluntary service program. They assist in community service projects in South Texas, Northern Alberta, and Puerto Rico; in a migrant ministry program in Arizona; in eight hospital projects and an equal number of other institutions (such as homes for the aged, a school for retarded teen-agers, a camp for juvenile delinquent boys, etc). They also perform missionary assistance in India, Brazil, Mexico, Nigeria, and Japan.

CABLE STITCH CLUB The Cable Stitch Club will meet Mrs. William Kurtz is hostess Monday, October 28 at 7:30 p.m. with Mrs. Wilford Sparks, co-host-ess.
