National FHA Week March 31 Through April 6 F.H.A. is a national organization consisting of girls studying homemaking in high school. Any girl that wishes to join while attending high school may do so. F.H.A. was organized in Nappanee High School in 1947. Since then the club has been growing and becoming more useful to its members. This year the club has 34 members. Miss Mary Robison is sponsor, and Mrs. Howard Mikel is chanter mother. The club has many goals reaching from potential abilities to good will abroad. Some of the goals are suggested by the National and Local F.H.A. organizations. They are to develop potential abilities, to develop a better understanding of family

members and to contribute to their well being, to interpret the value of home economics as a basic part of total education, and to promote good will through getting to know r.eighbors at home and abroad. Some of the projects to earn money this year have been selling cook books, bake sale, and an ice cream social.
Lady Lions Elect New Officers The Lady Lions of Nappanee met Tuesday evening at the home of Mrs. Joseph Zally, with Mrs. Stanley Yoder assisting as co-hostess. Mrs. Jack Forrest, president, was in charge of the business meeting. It. was voted to donate SIO.OO to the Cancer Fund. New officers for 1963-64 were voted upon and are as follows: Mrs. Cecil Fitzgerald, former Vice-President, moves up to the presidency, as per by-laws. Mrs. Maynard Shrock, new Vice President; Mrs. Stanley Yoder, Secretary; Mrs. James Marchand, Treasurer. The final meeting of the season will be a dinner meeting April 30th. It u'as voted to disband dur ing the months of June, July and \ugust. Hostesses and co-hostesses for next season were set up. Presbyterian Church Open During Holy Week The Presbyterian Church will be open during Holy Week each day from 12:00 to 1:00 o’clock for prayer and meditation. There will be no formal Service Os any kind, but organ music will be played throughout the entire hour. Everyone is welcome to come for as long or short a period as desired. It is hoped that a few moments of pray er and meditation each day will make this Easter season a time of increased spiritual growth.

H, o, ii.>. M>rman Basic Brant A. Nettrouer, son of Mrs. Erdine W. Nettrouer of 421 N. Baltimore St., Bremen, is being reassigned to Lowry AFB, Colo., for technical training as a United States Air Force photographer.
Airman Nettrouer, who enlisted in the Air Force a short time ago, has completed his initial basic military training here. The airman is a 1961 graduate of Nappanee High School. Five Take Part In High School Math Contest Saturday, March 30, five Nappanee High School mathematics students and their teachers, Mr. Robison and Mr. Frederick, took part in the Goshen Regional Achievement Program sponsored by Indiana University. 180 students from Northeastern Indiana entered contests in Mathematics, English, Latin, and Spanish. Most of these students are in the upper 5 % of their classes, so the competition is very great. All five Nappanee entries did very well, comparing favorable with other schools, includingg Goshen and Elkhart. Barbara Brumbaugh and Dennis Miller entered in Comprehensive Mathematics, Luther Adkins entered in Geometry, and Dennis Yoder and Duncan Sinclair entered in Algebra. Dennis Miller ranked 6th (out of 22 entries) in ComprehenDennis Yoder ranked 7th and Duncan Sinclair ranked sth (also out of 22) in Algebra. The teachers and other students are very proud of these students, and it was hoped that some of the students might be invited to the state finals in Bloomington which is being held April 27. CIN KA WA TA The Cin Ka Wa Ta Camp Fire group met with their leader Mrs. James Marchand, Wednesday after school. The girls worked on their rank papers, and then played out of doors. Refreshments were served. Mrs. Richard Pippen is assistant leader.

Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Stump and Mr. and Mrs. Elwyn Brumbaugh were callers. LaMar Stoops Made V.P. Os Citizens Telephone Cos. It was announced today by Charles D. Ehinger, President and Chairman of the Board, that three new officers have been designated by the Board of Directors of the Company. Named to the offices of vice president of the Citizens Telephone Company were LaMar S. Stoops and C. Ivan Heare, while Ivan C. Oberlin was named as assistant secretary-treasurer. Each of the new officers was also named to fill identical posts in wholly owned subsidiaries of the Citizens Telephone Company, the Nappanee Company. Nappanee, Indiana, and the Argos Telephone Company, Argos, Indiana. LaMar S. Stoops, newly named vice president, has been in the telephone business for a period in excess of thirty-five years and has worked in plant, commercial, accounting, traffic, and management positions. He is presently serving as vice president and manager of the Nappanee Telephone Company and of the Argos Telephone Company. He has also been serving as general traffic superintendent and connecting company relations agent for the three companies. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Indiana Telephone Association and of the State Bank of Nappanee. He formerly served as president of the Nappanee Kiwanis Club and for seven years as nresident of the Board of School Trustees of the Nappanee Community Schools. Mr. Stoops makes his residence at Nappanee, Indiana, and is a trustee of the Methodist Church. C. Ivan Heare has been in charge of Outside Plan construction, engineering, and maintenance, and has been with the company in excess of thirty years in various construction and maintenance positions. A native of Berne, Indiana, he is a member of the Berne Rotary Club, and the Decatur Loyal Order of Moose. He is a member of St. Luke’s United Church of Christ and resides west of Monroe, Indiana. Ivan C. Oberlin, newly appointed assistant secretary-treasurer, has been with the Citizens Telephone Company for six years and is presently serving as chief accountant in charge of all general accounting for the company. A native of Fort Wayne, he graduated from International Business College with a B.S. degree in professional accounting and presently resides in Fort Wayne where he is a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. He is serving, at the present time, as vice chairman of the Industrial Division of the Decatur Chamber of Commerce. Buenos Aires Is the only city south of the equator with a subway.
