The Active Ladies Club entertained ten members of the Wawakeechie Club at the Nappanee Community Park Pavilion Wednesday afternoon. Other guests were Mrs. Irvin Clatterbuck and Marian of Arlington, Virginia, Mrs. Owen Yarian, Bourbon and Carol Disher. After repeating the Pledge of Allegiance, Mary Miller had meditations, two poems. Mary Disher read the history of “The Star Spangled Banner.” Roll call consisted of the introduction of the guests. The lesson on “Flower Arrangement” was given by Barbara Troxel, then the ladies tried their hand at making arrangements and a prize was awarded to Lois George and Betty Buss for making the best one. They intended calling on Mrs. Ferd Byrer but found she had been taken back to the Goshen Hospital after being home two weeks. Twenty-two pair of house slippers were made by twelve members of the Camp Creek Ladies Aid Thursday. They will be given to nursing homes. Mrs. Dewey Jones and Mrs. Ralph Rarick read poems and the devotional and business sessions was concluded by all repeating the Lord’s prayer. Nine children were also present. Mr. and Mrs. Chance Thomas visited Atlee Millers at their Syracuse Lake cottage Monday. Sunday Mr. and Mrs. John Holaway attended the Holaway reunion at the City Park, Akron, Ind. About 75 relatives from the Nappanee vicinity and the state of Ohio were present. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Geyer called on Mr. and Mrs. Ben Hepler Sunday afternoon, and the Heplers visited the Geyers Monday. Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Myers and Delbert were Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Hartzell, Jan and Kendall. Afternoon callers were Mr. and Mrs. Harold Sechrist, Nappanee, Mrs. Niles Johnson and two children of California, Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Duncan, Milford and Mrs. Mae Poffenbarger, Portland, Oregon. Patsy Miller was a Tuesday supper guest of her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Myers. FIRST BRETHREN NEWS The board of trustees of the First Brethren Church meets tonight (Thurs.) at 6:30 in the pastor’s study. The regular midweek prayer service and Bible study will be at 7:30. There will be no services at the church Sunday evening as the pastor, the Rev. Virgil Ingraham, will be the speaker at the union services, in the Church of God at 7:30. The Layman of the First Brethren Church will hold their annual family picnic Monday at 6:30 p.m. at Milford Lake. Each family is to bring their own wieners and buns and a covered dish. Drinks will be furnished by the committee. Mrs. Richard Arnott, who has been the church office secretary for a year has resigned and Mrs. Robert Arnott will take over the duties on September 1. The annual general conference of Brethren Churches will convene at Ashland, Ohio August 13 and will continue through August 19. BETHEL YOUNG PEOPLE A group of the young people in the Bethel Church had various projects last year, mostly for the raising of funds. This year they decided that they would do things that would be helpful to the church and its membership.

Usinf hard work and enjoying the fellowship of their labors together, they have been weeding and cleaning the cemetery, keeping the church grounds in good order, and helping whenever possible on the farms of their neighbors.
