Slow Pitch Gets Up Steam Again The ghost of John Wesley has been haunting the Methodist Church all week. No one is sure what he is saying, but it sounds something like, “Get some Fielders”. This phenomenum started after the Methodist A team was pounded 29-1 by the Church of the Brethren A team. It would be easier to record who among Leland’s Leopards didn’t get a hit. No one. The Methodists were spared from complete humiliation by a homer by Jim Phillips. A slugging match occurred when EUB A team beat Church of God 20-8. This doesn’t refer to fisticufs but just to the many long hits on both sides. Bamy Stouder got a homerun, Dean Knepp a triple and a homer, and Norm Murphy a triple. For the losers Jim Warren and George Denniston got homeruns. In one of the hig games of the season, the First Brethren beat Central Amish 11-8. Ingrahams Indians were led by the bat of Dick Wenger who got a triple and a homer. Elmer Yoder, Jerry Slabaugh, and Lonnie Slabaugh were the leading hitters for the Amish. Those bruisers from Mount Tabor, led by Hammering Howard Hepler and Jolting Jerry Neff slammed the poor Church of God B team 21-1. Then the North Amish swept over the hapless Church of God B like a horde of Huns from the North Country. The score of that massacre was 25-0. Menno Borkholder, John Henry Whetstone, Lloyd Chupp, Lester Helmuth, Larry Hochstetler, and Andrew Miller led the bruising attack. Church of God B snapped Locke’s

winning streak 8-5. Andrews got a double and a homer. Although Wayne Berger and Norm Murphy homered, the EUB lost to the L & M’s 6-5. Bob Hoffe, Bill Kurtz got homers and Royce Geyer a triple, hut the game was won on a long one by the darling of the bobby sox set, Dean Middaugh. In another close one, EUB B lost to those terrible Mt. Tabor hoys 17-14. Wayne Berger got another homer, but Howard Hepler got a triple and a homerun, Jerry Neff a homer, and Kenny Wyman two triples. Newly elected president of the Strike-Out Club is John McCarty. There are now 58 members in good standing, but the most prominent members, contributing the most to the club’s success are Keith Burchhart, Marv Huffman, Jack Yoder, Grog Freed, Striehter, Bill Mattem, (vice president), Jim Phillips, Norm Murphy, and LaMar Hochstetler. Red Sox - Paul Sechrist (2); Steve Walters. 75 Europeans To Visit Neuhauser Ohio Hatcheries Neuhauser Hatcheries, Inc. of Napoleon, Ohio will be host to seventy-five poultry experts from Holland, Belgium, France, and Italy on Tuesday, July 17th. The visitors will fly to Toledo Airport arriving at 1:00 P.M. and continuing by chartered bus to Napoleon. Neuhauser Hatchery at Nappanee, Indiana is a member of the Neuhauser Organization. The group will tour the General Offices of Neuhauser’s and several of their unique cage layer operations in Northwestern Ohio. Most of the visitors are HY-Line chick distributors in their respective countries. How ever, there will be representatives of other operations including some agriculture departments and private feed companies. After visiting Napoleon, the group will fly to St. Louis for the 46th annual convention sponsored by the American Poultry and Hatchery Federation. While there, they will see the latest in all phases of the poultry industry and will be guests of honor at a breakfast of Hy-Line chick distributors from all over the United States. Immediately after the St. Louis trip, the group

will tour Hy-Line’s main operations in Central lowa along with commercial operations in that state. Wheat grows in every one of our 50 states, occupies more acres than any other single crop, and is harvested or planted someplace in the world every day of the year.
