Slabaugh of Bremen was surprised Tuesday noon when a group brought a carry-in dinner to her home in honor of her 47th birthday. Mrs. Alvin Miller, Mrs. Pete Miller, Mrs. Esther Hochstetler, and Ezra B. Miller attended the funeral of Mrs. Eli Hershberger formally of near Middlebury at the Riverview Mennonite Church, Sturgis, Michigan, Thursday. Mrs. Hershberger had been bedfast with cancer for several months. Mr. and Mrs. Max Watkins and family attended the Bourbon High School Class Reunion of ’49 at the Bourbon Park, Sunday. 3T; were present including children. August Hoeback who under-' went surgery at the Goshen Hospital last week, is still serious at this writing. John Yoder had the misfortune of running over his son’s, (Gary) leg as they and a group of boys were gathering up news papers with the bread truck. Mutowa, a Butler University friend, who is pastor of a Methodist Church near Kokomo and accompanied him to his church service, Sunday. TRIP TO CALIFORNIA Steven Biller and Don Fervida left Friday for a two weeks trip to California, traveling by Steven’s car. They expect to visit Dale Stone, stationed at Stockton, Calif, and visit Steven’s class mate of MHS, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wemple, in New Mexico. The Kendall Biller family and Barbara Fox attended the Atwood Class reunion of Kendall Biller at the Warsaw Community Park, Sunday. In the afternoon they visited the Myrtus Custer family, Packerton. In the eve Mr. and Mrs. Biller visited her father, Hudson McCuen, at the Elkhart General Hospital where he underwent an appendix operation Friday eve. Mr. and Mrs. Royce Biller visited August Hoeback and Mrs. Donald Fox Sunday afternoon at the Goshen Hospital. Mr. Hoeback was not conscious. Later in the afternoon they visited Floyd Tusing at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Kasper, Milford. Mr. Tusing has been in poor health. Saturday dinner and supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Haney were Mr. and Mrs. Maynard Dietrich and children, Bremen and Miss Carol Ricketts of Oswego, 111. The Haneys hear each week from their son, Joe Haney, who is with the U.S. Army in southern Germany. He is active in the local church there. WOMEN'S SOCIETY OF WORLD SERVICE Mrs. Henry Biller will be hostess to the W.S.W.S. of Island Chapel at her home Thursday afternoon. Mrs. Oscar Haney will give the devotions and Mrs. Robert Rumfelt the lesson on “How Wide Is Our Witness?” The Annual Biller reunion will be held Sunday, July 22 at the Union Center School.
