Music Man Comes To Enchanted Hills July 3-10

Enchanted Hills Playhouse, the barn theatre on the east side of Lake Wawasee, will present Meridith Wilson’s The Music Man. The show will run from July 3 through 10 and will star Jon Baisch and Geraldine Montross with Kim Lobsiger playing Winthrop. The Music Man is the story of Professor Harold Hill who can’t read a note of music, but who somehow sells the boys of River City a complete brass band including flashy new uniforms. His intentions ate obviously dishonest. But while he is winning the hearts and money of the townspeople of River City, he also changes this dull midwestern town into a happy, singing and dancing community. Marian, the Librarian, sees through the professor’s scheme but can’t help falling in love with him. So she finally goes along with the idea of a boys’ band and doesn’t reveal Mr. Hill’s motives Winthrop is an ardent participant in the boys’ band and adds charm to the show with his singing of “Gary Indiana” and “Wells Fargo Wagon.” “Seventy-six Trombones,” “Trouble,” and “Marian the Librarian” are some other familiar songs in the show. Professor Harold Hill is played by Jon Baisch, director at Enchanted Hills Playhouse. Geraldine Montross from Detroit, Michigan, will play Marian. She has been working in the Detroit Opera Theatre for several seasons and is well known in the Detroit area. Nine-year-old Kim Lobsiger from Decatur, Indiana, plays Winthrop. Kim has had much experience in public appearances with his musician parents. The Music Man is a musical comedy for the whole family. Brooks Atkison, former critic of the New York Times says, “The Music Man is a marvelous show,, rooted in wholesome and comic tradition. ... is as American as apple pie snfi the fourth of July oration.”
