Troop. A business meeting will follow at eight o’clock. The Jaycees wish to report to the people of Nappanee that the fair board is making very good progress in plans for this year’s community fair. Amish From North & South Spread Fear In Slow Pitch This week was full of upsets as the Church of the Brethren A team taught the Presbyterians more fundemental doctrine to the tune of 9-6. Royce Geyer pitched for the winners and frustrated them most of the time. The report that he is a “cool weather pitcher” seems to be true. Dizzy Dean Geyer was responsible for two important singles. Strang and Gall each blasted mighty homers. For the Presbyterians, pitcher Cripe didn’t show his usual control. Eldon Hepler helped the cause with 4 hits, and Dick Strakowski got 2 singles. - - . i ' - i.* •*%-• she Mighty Middaugh led his EUB A Team to victory over the Ist Brethren team 11-9. Red not only pitched but got three singles. The hero of the game was Norm Murphy who got four hits —one a homer and one a double. For the losers, Bill Hershberger got three singles and Jim Ileckaman a double and a single. The Ist Brethrens had a bad time all week. The Central Amish, led by the mighty bat of Elmer Yoder creamed them 10-4. Reports are rampant that Ist Brethren
Ingrahan/ favors a drastic shakeup. In a ten inning battle to the finish, those nasty Nazarenes outlasted the Central Amish 7-6. Killer Keim got a double and a home run and Harry the Hood got two important hits. For the Amish, Mel Chupp got two hits, and Jay Hochstetler got one out of the park. There 4s no misprint in the following score. Hits were apparently turned into touchdowns in the B League when the North Amish beat the Locke Brethren in Christ 30-1. Everyone on the Amish hit, hit, and hit. Walter Miller, Menno Borkholder, Larry Hostettler, and Lloyd Chupp (one a homer) all knocked the ball all over the place and almost sent it back to Locke. The South Amish humbled the Church of the Brethren B 13-0. Lester Chupp held the losers to only two hits as Eldon Stutzman, Marvin Miller, and Howard Miller led the victors in hitting. It’s obvious that the North Amish are a team to be feared. Their power overwhelmed the Chorch of the Brethren B team 25-16 under the mighty bats of Menno Borkholder,- Larry Hochstetler, and Lester Helmuth. One of the exciting moments, however, was a home run with the bases leaded by Royce Geyer. Lester Chupp allowed only two hits again when the South Amish beat the Church of God B 13-2. Marvin Miller and Oscar Borkholder were the mainstays in the hitting department. Those frightening Methodist won a game by forfeit from the North Main Mennonites.
St. Isidore’s, with two hits from Lippy Biever, home runs by Ed Eilers and Jay Stouder smashed the EUB B team 8-2. Dave McGrew got two hits to help the

losers. Mount Tabor, sometimes called Burcham’s Bearcats, beat the L&M’s (Lutheran-Mennonite combo.) 8-4. Moose Anglin got two hits, one a double, and Bob Hotter got three hits. Bill George kept his L&M’s in the game with three important hits. In a cliff-hanger, the Ist Brethren B beat the Turkey Creek Toms 9-8.
