Bob Mitchell Nappanee 78 Culver 45 Playing his regulars for only three quarters, Coach Dougherty’s Bulldogs led all the way in racking up their 12th win in 17 starts with an easy 78-45 conquest of Culver’s Indians last Friday. Nap broke the game wide open in the second period with some uncanny shooting. They hit seven

straight field goals without a miss to pull away to commanding 27-8 lead. The regulars played for six minutes and during that period hit an amazing total of IX field goals in 14 attempts. Coach Dougherty pulled his regulars with two minutes left in the half and Greg Truex, Dana Stickel, Mike Egolf, Mike Hoyt and Dave McGrew filled in as capable reserves and at halftime the Bulldogs held a 39-14 lead. the Bulldogs ability to hit a phe- • nomenal 59 percent of their shots , in the first half. ! N*p continued their red-hot ; shooting ill the third period by . hitting 8 of 15 and their lead soared to S3 points, 59-26 at the end of the quarter. With two minutes gone by of 1 the final quarter, Naps lead mounted to 65-30 and coach Dougherty | withdrew his starters from aetion ■ again, and replaced them with his 1 alternate unit. Against the reserves, Culver failed to cut into Naps lead and at the final gun it was 78-45. No doubt coach Dougherty was elated over the fine all-around performance of scrappy Bulldog guard Tod Lehman. Tod has become a prolific scorer in the last three ball games hitting 10, 15, and 16 points to take some pressure off the Bulldog front line of Jerry Lambert, Bob Berger, and Ron Kendall.
Lambert was again high point man for the Bulldogs with 20 points, but all 10 players who saw action hit the scoring column. Lehman hit 16, Berger 13, Kendall 6, Hand 6, McGrew 5, Truex 4, Hoyt 4, Egolf 2, and Stickel 2. Culver led in scoring by Sam Lowry and Jim Carter with 12 and 11 points respectively. Nap hit 32 of 64 field goals for 50 percent and Culver 19 of 56 for 34 percent. Coach Don McKee’s “B” team won their third game in a row by defeating Culver’s “B” squad, 4135. The Bulldogs have two games on tap this week-end. Friday night they journey to Manchester and Saturday night return home to face Madison Twp. Manchester split a pair of games last week, losing to Warsaw 67-59, and defeating Syracuse 70-68.
